Jornadas sobre convivencia entre patrimonio y transformación urbana en La Laguna
The old convent of Santo Domingo will host a new day of debate and reflection on May 27th and 28th, promoted by the Economic and Social Forum of La Laguna, in collaboration with the CICOP Foundation. The event will focus on the role of heritage in historic cities, addressing the tensions between the conservation of historical heritage and the needs of urban transformation.
This seminar offers a critical reflection on the role of heritage in cities, addressing the tensions between the conservation of historical heritage and the needs of urban transformation. Attendance is free, with prior registration at www.cicop.com until the capacity of 120 people is reached. Additionally, the event can be followed live through the city council’s website: www.aytolalaguna.es.
The mayor of the municipality and president of the Economic and Social Forum, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, emphasized that «La Laguna has become an international reference in the management of its historic center and cultural heritage, and with this event, we continue to strengthen our commitment to knowledge, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary dialogue as tools to plan for the future.»
Furthermore, the mayor added that «it is essential to open these types of spaces, where academia, institutions, and citizens converge around a shared vision of what we should preserve.»
On his part, the technical director of the FES, Jordi Bercedo, highlighted that «the program of this second edition represents a qualitative leap in understanding our urban and symbolic heritage, not only as something that is preserved but also as something that is inhabited, interpreted, and transformed. We have gathered very relevant voices to present an open and contemporary view of heritage.»
