Guaguas Municipales establece dispositivo especial de movilidad para Carnaval de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Guaguas Municipales will deploy a special transportation service to provide public transportation coverage for the most important celebrations of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival 2025, with the theme of the Olympic Games, which will run until March 16.

In a statement, the municipal transport company explained that it will activate special operations and intensify lines on each of the weekend festive days, including the Grand Parade and the Burial of the Sardine, as well as the eve of Carnival Tuesday, with the aim of facilitating citizens’ travel to leisure areas.

Guaguas Municipales’ special deployment includes more than twenty vehicles assigned to special lines on each of the scheduled days, offering approximately 35,000 daily seats.

Additionally, 40 employees of the public transport company, including drivers, zone inspectors, and personnel from the commercial and workshop department, will work each night of the festivities to ensure the successful implementation of the transport campaign, which is promoted through a striking video featuring adapted music and lyrics from Vangelis’ famous soundtrack of the movie Chariots of Fire, inspired by the Olympic theme.

FIVE EXCLUSIVE ROUTES

With the celebration of the main nights of Carnival 2025, on Friday, February 28 (Queen’s Gala), Saturday, March 1, Monday, March 3 (Carnival Tuesday’s eve), Friday, March 7 (Drag Gala), and Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15 (Grand Parade), the municipal transport company will deploy five exclusive lines connecting the special Carnival terminal at the intersection of Belén María and Dr. Juan Domínguez Pérez Street, in the access road to El Sebadal, with all districts of the capital city, with departures from 01:30 hours until one hour after the festivities end.

The five special lines connecting the special terminal with different points of the city are: 1) Carnival-Theatre-Vegueta-Hoya de la Plata; 2) Carnival-Escaleritas-Schamann-Las Rehoyas; 3) Carnival-La Feria-La Paterna; 4) Carnival-Siete Palmas-Tamaraceite; and 5) Carnival-Auditorium.

Following departures from the special Carnival terminal, all lines, except for the one heading to Hoya de la Plata, will have their first stops on Juan Manuel Durán Street (codes 572 and 782). Intermediate stops can be found in the Carnival section of the guaguas.com website.

On festive days, Fridays, February 28, March 7, and March 14, starting at 18:00 hours, Guaguas Municipales will operate with detours. If Manuel Becerra Square is operational, the lines will detour from the Santa Catalina Interchange to connect with stops at Castillo de la Luz and Manuel Becerra Square.

If Manuel Becerra is not operational, the lines will detour from the Interchange, via the highway, to the temporary stop located on the access road to El Sebadal (Dr. Juan Domínguez Pérez), where the lines terminating at the Port terminal will arrive (except for 20 and 41).

Additionally, as a general rule during the Carnival period, on weekdays, the official itineraries of regular lines circulating in the Santa Catalina/Port area will be operational. Eduardo Benot and Agustín Millares Sall streets will remain open to traffic, as well as the official guagua stops.

DAY AND FAMILY CARNIVAL

Day and Family Carnival play a significant role in the festive calendar, so the provision of regular lines will be intensified to enhance the offer towards festive areas from noon on Saturday, March 1; Tuesday, March 4, with the Children’s Parade; Saturday, March 8, Sunday, March 9, Friday, March 14 (afternoon), and Sunday, February 16, in the final celebration before the Burial of the Sardine.

Finally, as in past editions, Guaguas Municipales will implement a detour plan during the Grand Carnival Parade on the afternoon of Saturday, March 15, to provide an efficient service adapted to the closure of streets due to the passage of floats. The Burial of the Sardine, taking place on Sunday, March 16, will also be accompanied by the relevant detour plan.
