Resultados de concursos morfológicos de ganado mayor y menor en FEAGA 2025

Almost 700 heads of cattle participated in the Agricultural, Livestock, and Fisheries Fair of Fuerteventura (FEAGA 2025), including contests and exhibitions

The Agricultural, Livestock, and Fisheries Fair of Fuerteventura (FEAGA) 2025 had the participation of almost 700 heads of cattle. The Granja Experimental de Pozo Negro venue had 3,500 square meters for caprine and larger livestock, expanding this year its pens for bovine livestock and new tents for dogs and Canarian free-range chickens.

Among the different contests and exhibitions at the fair, there were 110 adult goats, 18 first-time kidding goats, 131 males, 69 young males and females, as well as 36 coastal goats. It also featured 59 Canarian sheep and 28 Pelibuey sheep, 15 local cows, 4 Palmera breed cows, 6 local bulls, 1 Palmera breed bull, 9 local and foreign breed cows and bulls, 17 local and Palmera breed steers and calves, as well as 9 camels, 16 donkeys, and 98 poultry.

During the fair, the winners of the different livestock contests were announced, distributing over 10,000 euros in prizes.

In the morphological contest of four rearing young females, the prizes went to specimens of Augusto with the first prize, Domingo Espinel and Blas Gregorio with the second and third prizes, respectively. In the adult male category, the prizes went to specimens of Pablo Rodríguez, Ganadería La Atalayeja, Belén Ramírez, and Pedro Peña, in that order.

In the morphological contest of young males, the winners were specimens of Esteben Rodríguez who received the first prize, as well as Belén Ramírez and Alicia Martínez, with the second and third prizes, respectively.

In the case of the Canarian sheep, the winners of the morphological contest were Ganadería La Atalayeja (1st prize), Miguel Cano (2nd), and Andrés Alonso (3rd). In the Canarian Carnio category, the winners were Miguel Cano (1st), Ganadería La Atalayeja (2nd), and Domingo Espinel (3rd). In Pelibuey sheep, the prizes went to Matías Hernández (1st), Jessica Moseguez (2nd), and Mariano Cabrera (3rd).

In the morphological contest of Pelibuey ram, the prizes went to Jessica Moseguez (1st) and Matías Hernández (3rd).

Regarding larger livestock, the local cows of Germán Gutiérrez (1st) and Roberto Carlos Prieto (2nd) were recognized, as well as the local bulls of Rubén Hernández (1st) and Isabel Pérez (2nd), the foreign breed cows of Maximino Robayna (2nd), the foreign breed bulls of Maximino Robayna, and the camel livestock of the Museo del Campo Majorero.

The award for best presentation went to a Canarian breed bovine of Germán Gutiérrez, while the second and third prizes went to the camels of the Museo del Campo Majorero and the third to a lot of Canarian sheep from Miguel Cano. These prizes recognize the effort of the livestock farmer in preparing their livestock for attending FEAGA 2025.

Milking

The winner of the manual milking contest at the Agricultural, Livestock, and Fisheries Fair (FEAGA) 2025 was Juan Pedro Hernández, with a score of 4.2 liters in one minute. The second place went to Fernando Peña with 3.8 liters and the third to Antonio Peña and Esteban Rodríguez with 3.4 liters. The winners received 300, 250, and 200 euros, respectively.

The functional contest (milking with a machine) of an individual goat had Pablo Rodríguez Martín in first position with 7.7 liters, Juan Pedro Hernández in second with 6.8 liters, Belén Ramírez in third place with 6.7, and Blas Gregorio Alonso in fourth position with 6.4.
