Reorganización del tráfico en Triana y Vegueta por la Procesión Magna

The Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council will carry out a traffic reorganization in the neighborhoods of Triana and Vegueta due to the celebration of the Interparochial Magna Procession of Holy Week 2025, which will take place this Friday, April 18.

According to the capital City Council, the special operation designed for this day will be coordinated by Local Police officers and Mobility Agents, who will be in charge of the necessary closures and detours to ensure the smooth running of the event and road safety.

The procession will begin on Friday afternoon, when the different processional images will depart from the parishes of Santo Domingo Guzmán, San Agustín, and San Francisco de Asís, located in the historic center of the city.

The first procession will start at 6:30 p.m. at the parish of Santo Domingo Guzmán in Vegueta. The route will continue through the streets of García Tello, San Marcos, Dr. Verneau, Dr. Chil, Reloj, Obispo Codina, GC-110, Muro, Plaza de Cairasco, General Bravo, San Bernardo, Viera y Clavijo, Arena, Mayor de Triana, Mendizábal, San Agustín, Plaza de San Agustín, Dr. Chil, Dr. Verneau, San Marcos, García Tello, and Plaza de Santo Domingo.

Meanwhile, the second procession will depart at 6:45 p.m. from the church of San Agustín, also in Vegueta, and will follow a route through Dr. Chil, Reloj (joining the procession that departs from Santo Domingo), Obispo Codina, GC-110, Muro, Plaza de Cairasco, General Bravo, San Bernardo, Viera y Clavijo, Arena, Mayor de Triana, Mendizábal, San Agustín, and Plaza de San Agustín.

The third procession will begin at 7:00 p.m. from the parish of San Francisco de Asís, located in Alameda de Colón in the Triana neighborhood. The route will pass through the streets of Dr. Domingo Déniz, Alameda de Colón, Plaza de Cairasco (joining the processions of Santo Domingo Guzmán and San Agustín before entering Alameda), continuing through General Bravo, San Bernardo, Viera y Clavijo, Arena, Mayor de Triana, Mendizábal, San Agustín, Plaza de San Agustín, Dr. Chil, Reloj, Obispo Codina, GC-110, Muro, Plaza de Cairasco, Alameda de Colón, and Dr. Domingo Déniz.

TRAFFIC CLOSURES STARTING AT 5:30 PM

Traffic closures will take place starting at 5:30 p.m. in four different sectors. In the Vegueta sector, vehicle access will be closed on the streets of Sor Brígida Castelló, García Tello, Toledo, San Marcos, López Botas, Dr. Chil, Castillo, Reloj, Obispo Codina, Luis Millares, Reyes Católicos, Agustín Millares, Juan E. Doreste, Domingo Doreste, San Agustín, Roque Morera, Pelota, Mendizabal, Juan de Quesada (from Ramón y Cajal), Calvo Sotelo, and Alcalde Díaz Saavedra, as well as access to the latter street from Avenida Marítima.

In the Teatro sector, Lentini street and the GC-110 (Central Road) will be closed from Rafael Cabrera in the uphill direction and from the detour to Primero de Mayo in the downhill direction.

Additionally, in the Primero de Mayo sector, the streets of San Nicolás from Primero de Mayo, Terrero, Fuentes, Alameda de Colón, and San Bernardo from Juan de Padilla will be closed to traffic.

Finally, in the Triana sector, the streets of Muro, General Bravo, Malteses, and Losero up to Francisco Gourié will be closed, and it is expected that around 10:30 p.m., traffic will return to normal after the procession.
