Nuevas rutas guiadas por el casco histórico de La Laguna
The City Council of La Laguna, through the Department of Primary Sector and in collaboration with the Department of Culture, along with the Ciudades a Pie project, are organizing a new package of eight guided enogastronomic routes through the city center, under the title ‘La Laguna a Pie: Al Son del Vino’.
The initiative is part of the activities program of the XII edition of the Extra de Verano Tacoronte-Acentejo, a popular summer event that offers multiple activities throughout the municipality during the month of June. These guided routes include a wine tasting of the Denomination of Origin Tacoronte-Acentejo and Lagunero cheeses at the Teatro Leal. The activity will take place on the 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th of June at two different times: 16:00 and 18:00 hours.
Registration for the routes is completely free and is now available on the project’s website: www.lalagunaapie.es. On this occasion, 160 spots are being offered (20 per tour), but once filled, a waiting list will be generated in case of any cancellations.
The website also shares the episodes of ‘Al Son del Vino: el programa’, a ten-episode miniseries that showcases the wineries and cheese dairies participating in the project. This addition to the routes has the collaboration of the specialized portal Culturamanía, dedicated to cultural dissemination in the Canary Islands. The digital platform has also served as a platform for all previous editions of La Laguna a Pie, which started last year in La Laguna and have already been attended by nearly a thousand people.
The routes are designed and led by accredited tour guide Hortensia Ayala and will last for an hour, not including the tasting time, which usually extends for forty minutes. The experience also provides the opportunity to explore the Teatro Leal from the inside, accessing places not commonly known to the public.
The starting point is the Lomada de La Concepción, comfortable footwear is recommended, and attendees will receive two commemorative postcards of the activity, drawn by Tenerife artist Eduardo González, the author of the posters announcing the routes.
The first two walks will take place on Tuesday, June 3rd, offering the opportunity to taste the Mallar de los Trazos wine, paired with the soft cheese from El Homicián. The rest of the visits will be held on the 10th, 17th, and 24th of the same month in double shifts, one at 16:00 and the other at 18:00 hours, each with an expert who will comment on the wine experience. The first expert to attend will be Fernando de Iturrate, a film professor at the University of La Laguna, with others like winemakers, hoteliers, and wine enthusiasts from various fields joining in.
