El PP canario critica la retirada del recurso sobre menores migrantes como «trilerismo político» del Gobierno.
The Executive Secretary of Political Action of the PP of the Canary Islands, Carlos Tarife, stated this Friday that the withdrawal of the appeal filed by the State against the Supreme Court ruling that obliged to accommodate more than 1,000 migrant minors seeking asylum in the national network is an example of «political trickery» by the national government.
He said that it is «another exercise of absolute irresponsibility,» demanding that the state government act «immediately» to ensure the protection and well-being of the minors.
«We demand that concrete measures be implemented to address the crisis of unaccompanied minors seeking asylum, ensuring adequate care in accordance with human rights principles,» he concluded.
Tarife emphasized in a statement that «Canarias cannot continue to be a victim of the lack of interest and capacity of the central government,» so it is «essential» for the government to «assume its responsibility and offer real and effective solutions to protect minors and relieve the pressure that the islands are facing.»
In this sense, he criticized the «political and partisan use» that the Spanish government makes with migrant minors with the right to asylum or international protection.
«The Socialist government has fooled Canarias with minors entitled to asylum, avoiding their responsibility for months, forcing the Canary Islands government to resort to the Supreme Court,» he commented.
Tarife pointed out that it is «an absolute disgrace» for the central government to claim a lack of reception capacity when Canarias has nearly 5,500 migrant minors under its care, which he considers a «mockery» in the face of the «desperate situation» the archipelago is facing.
«THEY’RE PLAYING WITH US»
«As soon as the Supreme Court ruling came out, they halted asylum procedures for unaccompanied minors, trying to include them among the 4,000 already planned in the Royal Decree for relocation to other communities, and appealed the ruling to avoid compliance with Canarias. Faced with criticism for their hypocrisy and lack of solidarity, they withdrew that appeal and now open the door for some of these minors to leave Canarias, when they initially said they would all stay here. They’re playing with us,» he explained.
Furthermore, he accused the Socialist government of practicing «racism» by «establishing differential treatment» between Ukrainian minors and Africans, «not providing them with the same level of protection and not financing their expenses in the same way.» «Is the Spanish government led by the PSOE acting in a racist manner?» he questioned.
Tarife noted that the Supreme Court has already established that «it is the central government’s responsibility to ensure the proper treatment and reception of migrant minors,» but the government «has ignored legal guidelines and continues to allow the resources of the islands to be overwhelmed by the lack of an efficient and coordinated action plan.»
In his view, «this failure to meet legal responsibilities is a clear demonstration of the lack of seriousness with which the Socialist government is managing a humanitarian crisis of magnitude.»
