El Extra de Verano Tacoronte-Acentejo reúne a amantes del vino en La Laguna
The City Council of La Laguna and the Regulatory Council of the Tacoronte-Acentejo Designation of Origin have announced this Thursday the program of activities for the new edition of the Summer Extra Tacoronte-Acentejo, a veteran event dedicated to the viticultural culture that takes place throughout the month of June. The presentation was given by the Councilor for Rural Development, Cristina Ledesma, the manager of the Tacoronte-Acentejo Regulatory Council, Mari Paz Gil, and the person in charge of the Ciudades a Pie project, Lucas Morales.
Cristina Ledesma reiterated the City Council’s support for the viticultural sector «through the promotion of its products, increasingly recognized and select. We also contribute to giving visibility to sustainable projects that care for the land and unite the rural environment, that promote circular economy and create local employment, that preserve our culture and provide us with unique wines with a marked character and identity that we should be proud of.»
The councilor highlighted the four wineries in La Laguna affiliated with the Designation of Origin: «Cuevas de Lino, which preserves the agricultural landscape of Batán de Abajo by practicing heroic viticulture; Mallar de los Trazos, from Camino La Villa; Tierra Fundida, from Los Baldíos; and Viña El Drago, which cultivates the fertile valley of Boquerón in Valle de Guerra.»
«La Laguna once again becomes the ideal setting to enjoy the wines of the region this summer, always with the complicity of its local businesses, taverns, and cultural spaces,» said Mari Paz Gil. «Wines with the Tacoronte-Acentejo label allow us to transmit to the consumer a product that has been tested from the field to the market with different quality controls before consumption. An effective way to synthesize the work well done and avoid the possible fraud that harms our viticulture and landscape,» she said.
On his part, Lucas Morales highlighted the high demand generated by the activity ‘La Laguna a Pie: Al Son del Vino’, a series of eight guided tours lasting one hour each through the city center that include a tasting of wines from the Tacoronte-Acentejo Designation of Origin and local cheeses. «We have exceeded all expectations, and the 160 spots were not only filled immediately, but we have surpassed the thousand registrations that are part of a waiting list,» he said.
The manager of the Regulatory Council emphasized that in this edition, oenology, gastronomy, theater, comics, cinema, music, and multiple wine and culture-related proposals are the main axes to live intensely the Tacoronte-Acentejo wine culture in La Laguna. A varied set of proposals for all types of audiences passionate about any of the different aspects of the viticultural world will flood La Laguna in this upcoming summer.
This edition features the participation of 16 wineries from the viticultural region: El Cercado, Cuevas de Lino, Cráter, Marba, Domínguez Cuarta Generación, Linaje de Pago, Hacienda de Acentejo, Presas Ocampo, Viña Estévez, Guayonge, Cándido Hernández Pío, Tierra Fundida, Viña Norte, Mallar de los Trazos, Viña el Drago, and Trancao de Acentejo.
As for taverns, restaurants, and commercial and gastronomic establishments, the 2025 Summer Extra features the participation of Fundación México Canarias, El Remojo, La Cencerra, La Topa, La Tropical, Baggerman El Holandés, Restaurante Agrocardón, Restaurante Casino de La Laguna, Charcutería Víveres Jacinto, Cooperativa La Candelaria, Restaurante Casa Domingo, Supermercados SUMA Bajamar y Punta del Hidalgo, and SuperCOR La Laguna.
They are joined by the proposal of Librería Lemus with the book signing and talk with cartoonist Albert Monteys; Búho Club with the concert of The Bottles; Multicines Tenerife with the screening of the operas ‘Tosca’ and ‘Nabucco’, live from The Royal Opera House in London; guided tours by Aguere ‘La Laguna a pie’; the summer wine route in El Batán; the live magazine of the Tenebris Counter Culture Association; the theatrical play ‘Asesinato en el Leal’ by Néstor Verona at Teatro Leal; the screening of the classic film ‘Casablanca’, organized by Charlas de Cine at Multicines Tenerife, and the exhibitions at Bronzo and LaPanera art space. The highlight of the program will be on Thursday, the 26th, with the eagerly awaited event ‘SanBetinto’ in the surroundings of La Concepción square, where you can taste the wines of the region from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., accompanied by the best gastronomic tapas.
