El Cabildo comienza reuniones con agentes para redactar el PIOF y el PORN.
Se prevé tener un borrador del documento dentro de tres meses y poder sacarlo a información pública
En el marco de la redacción del nuevo Plan Insular de Ordenación de Fuerteventura y el Plan de Ordenación de los Recursos Naturales (PIOF/PORN), el Cabildo de Fuerteventura, a través de la Consejería de Ordenación del Territorio, que dirige Nereida Calero, ha comenzado una ronda de reuniones con los diferentes agentes implicados, con el objetivo de recoger sus aportaciones dentro de un proceso participativo y lograr el mayor consenso posible.
Este miércoles, May 28, the first meetings with the drafting team were held. The first one was with the different departments of the Fuerteventura Cabildo, as well as its autonomous bodies (CAAF, CIAF, Tourism Board, Technological Park). A meeting to which councilors from the government and opposition groups were also invited. Subsequently, a second meeting was held with the six town halls and the rest of the public administrations that will be affected, with representatives from the Ministry of Defense and the island’s General State Administration Directorate also present.
In the afternoon, a meeting took place with representatives from the business sector and the Fuerteventura Chamber of Commerce. In each of these meetings, the technical staff of the Territorial Planning Department and its island director also attended.
The second phase of this round of meetings will take place on June 4, with the participation of representatives from the primary sector, hunting, and environmental groups, with all councilors from the different political groups represented in the island corporation also invited.
Councilor Nereida Calero highlighted territorial planning as one of the main commitments of the current government group of the Cabildo, focusing on territorial planning and prioritizing different planning instruments at the island level.
Regarding the PIOF/PORN, the documents date back to 2001, with a new drafting process starting in 2009, with regulatory frameworks and environmental assessments that are now outdated. For this reason, the Cabildo has started drafting a new PIOF/PORN to adapt it to current legislation and the needs of Fuerteventura, as well as providing legal certainty to the procedures.
Nereida Calero emphasized that, within this process, «it is essential that the instruments are drafted with the maximum consensus of all the agents involved and take into account the reality of each of the administrations and professional sectors.»
In this sense, through these initial working meetings, it is important to know what the territorial priorities defined by the different areas are, what the most relevant current conflicts in the municipal field are, the main environmental and territorial threats, and other essential elements for a sustainable use of the island’s territory.
The drafting team has explained the work schedule to be followed, based on previous studies already carried out, with the aim of having a first draft within a three-month period. In this way, it is expected that the document will be made public in September to continue with its processing and final approval.
Currently, the Cabildo is immersed in the formation of the monitoring committee for the drafting of the PIOF/PORN.
