Activan a los TEDAX tras hallazgo de falsa granada de mano en Lanzarote.

It turned out to be a realistic-looking Airsoft training grenade

ARRECIFE (LANZAROTE), 31 (EUROPA PRESS)

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technicians (TEDAX) team of the Civil Guard in Lanzarote has been activated after a citizen found an object that appeared to be a hand grenade in the town of Playa Blanca.

According to the Civil Guard, the device turned out to be an Airsoft training grenade commonly used in recreational activities, but its realistic appearance makes it difficult to distinguish from a real explosive.

The operation began after a citizen reported the discovery of the object while walking in the area. Concerned about the appearance of the object, which was identified through photographs as a possible hand grenade, they contacted the Civil Guard.

Unable to determine initially whether it was a real or simulated explosive, the appropriate security protocol was activated.

A patrol from the Yaiza Post secured the perimeter to prevent access to the area while waiting for the arrival of the TEDAX team, who analyzed the object and confirmed that it was an Airsoft grenade without an explosive charge.

Despite not posing a direct threat, it was decided to proceed with its controlled destruction on-site to prevent potential confusion or future alarms among the population.
