Exposición de trabajos académicos en la Universidad de Verano de La Gomera

The Summer University of La Gomera hosted the ‘Tagoror de Saberes’ space yesterday, where Gomeran students presented various academic and scientific papers that have been developed as Bachelor’s or Master’s Theses.

Once again, the Summer University of La Gomera included in its program this presentation of works by students from the island who have trained at the university institution.

The insular councilor of Education, Rosa Elena García, emphasized that this event "aims to be much more than an academic display, a commitment to knowledge as a driver of social, territorial, and environmental transformation, especially from a non-capital island."

Among the scheduled interventions, Carmen Daniela Ramos Álvarez presented an analysis of single-sex education and the constitutional problems of its public funding, while Amanda Reyes Gámez Damas discussed a legal study of part-time contracts in Spain and the controversial issues and challenges it poses.

From an educational perspective, Santiago Nicolás Terreno Carandino presented an innovative proposal on using theater as an educational resource to work on the immediate environment in Primary Education.

The meeting concluded with José Andrés Ramos Mendoza’s research on the use of remote sensing techniques and artificial intelligence for the characterization of the Canary Island palm tree (Phoenix canariensis).

Conference ‘Culture between terraces’

The ‘Tagoror de Saberes’ exhibition space was part of the ‘Culture between terraces’ conference, which combined research, cinema, and local wines.

Following the presentations, a masterclass and tasting session titled "Understanding the diversity of Canary Islands wines" took place, allowing participants to sample a selection of Canary Island wines and appreciate the stories and traditions behind each glass, highlighting the impact of geography and culture in their production.

Subsequently, attendees could participate in a film forum through ‘Cine Talks’, one of the initiatives of the Cinema Classroom of the University of La Laguna aimed at bringing cinema to a diverse audience from a rigorous and playful perspective, offering a collective reflection on cultural and social issues relevant to the island.

Open Registration

Registration is still open for the course catalog planned in this new edition of the Summer University of La Gomera, which must be formalized online at this link. The courses cost 10 euros for residents of La Gomera and 20 euros for the general public. Additionally, for the first time, they combine face-to-face and online training modalities.

The University of La Laguna, through the Vice-Rectorate of Culture and University Extension, will issue a certificate of attendance to all those who attend a minimum of 80% of face-to-face teaching hours. Furthermore, those who successfully complete the student’s independent work will receive a certificate of attendance and achievement, recognized for 1 or 2 ECTS credits.
