Agents from the Organic Unit of Judicial Police (UOPJ) in Las Palmas have arrested two individuals, aged 38 and 40, for a robbery with violence committed in a hotel in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote. Additionally, a third person, aged 27, has been identified for receiving stolen goods as being the partner of one of the robbers and benefiting from the stolen money.
In the framework of Operation AFRE, the Area of Economic and Heritage Crime of the Organic Unit of Judicial Police (UOPJ) of the Las Palmas Command along with the Civil Guard of Yaiza in Lanzarote, has successfully identified, located, and arrested the perpetrators of the robbery.
The investigation began when information was received about a robbery with violence by two hooded and armed individuals, wielding a large knife, at the reception of a hotel in Playa Blanca, stealing 18,750 euros in bills of different values after threatening the hotel receptionist, as reported in a statement by the security force.
IDENTIFICATION OF PERPETRATORS
After analyzing the information gathered by the investigators, the first perpetrator was identified, determining that he fled to the island of Fuerteventura accompanied by a woman, leading to the initiation of an operation aimed at his full location and subsequent arrest.
Agents from the Organic Unit of Judicial Police (UOPJ) in Las Palmas, with the support of investigative units from Fuerteventura, carried out the entry and search of a hotel room after obtaining the corresponding judicial authorization to locate the stolen money, as well as items obtained with it.
During the operation, and upon entering the room, the perpetrator was arrested, and the place was searched, resulting in the recovery of the money and items from the committed crime.
Thus, following the conclusion of this initial phase of the investigation, the UOPJ Las Palmas continued with the gathering of investigative evidence indicating the commission of the crime of receiving stolen goods by the romantic partner of the first detainee.
Also, the second perpetrator of the robbery was identified, leading to their location and subsequent arrest on later dates in Lanzarote, ultimately resulting in the arrest of these three individuals as a direct consequence of the executed robbery.
The proceedings along with the detainees have been handed over to the Court of Arrecife.
