Retrato de La Palma: el instante preciso para promocionar sus atractivos

The island’s president, Sergio Rodríguez, emphasizes that the book commissioned by the Ministry of Tourism seeks to highlight one of La Palma’s most important attractions: its landscape, its territory, and its people.

The Cabildo de La Palma, through the Ministry of Tourism led by Raquel Rebollo, promotes the publication of a book commissioned to photographer Emilio Barrionuevo, in which he has captured «the precise moment,» as mentioned in the prologue of the work, in different locations on the island to promote the destination’s attractions.

The island’s president, Sergio Rodríguez, the Minister of Tourism, Raquel Rebollo, and the photographer Emilio Barrionuevo have presented the work alongside the author of its prologue, Anelio Rodríguez Concepción; the creator of the nocturnal photographs featured in the work, Alexis Acosta, and the author of the poetry that completes the book, Héctor Rodríguez Riverol.

Sergio Rodríguez stressed that this book, commissioned by the Ministry of Tourism to Emilio Barrionuevo, «seeks to provide a different perspective of the best we have on our island, which is precisely our landscape, our territory, and our people, all accompanied by a magnificent prologue by Anelio Rodríguez Concepción.»

The president highlighted Emilio Barrionuevo’s talent, «who is an expert in capturing the precise moment and whose work has been nationally recognized in the field of photography,» adding the impact that «the photos taken by the artist during the volcanic emergency had on him, where the portraits conveyed sensations that reached the soul.»

The Minister of Tourism, Raquel Rebollo, emphasized that the objective of the Ministry in this case was to capture the island and all its richness «from a different perspective and with the talent of people from La Palma, who are the ones who best know these attractions and can capture and convey them.»

Rebollo added that the Tourism Service has made «a significant commitment to showing the landscapes of the island in a more artistic, poetic way, highlighting the strengths that La Palma has in a concise manner in this book.»

Emilio Barrionuevo, in turn, thanked the work done by the Tourism team of the Cabildo de La Palma, as well as by Alexis, Héctor, and Anelio to bring this work to fruition. «When they contacted me to do this, they asked for something different, not so commercial but artistic, and we got to work to capture the power of the landscapes that La Palma has, and if we add its talent, its gastronomy, and its people, the island is wonderful.»
