La Palma se convertirá en epicentro gastronómico nacional con Saborea España

Miriam Perestelo destacas the importance of this event to position the Island in the national gastronomic sector.

La Palma will host the National Enogastronomic Meeting of 2025, an event that will position the Island within the gastronomic sector, as it will bring together the 26 destinations that make up the Saborea España seal, with the participation of Hostelería de España and Euro-Toques España. The event has not yet set a date for celebration.

The president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, emphasizes that the designation of the Island as the venue for the annual meeting of Saborea España is «unequivocal support» for the efforts being made by the Cabildo de La Palma, through the public company Sodepal, «to position Palmera gastronomy on a national level.»

For her part, the insular councilor for Economic Promotion of the Cabildo de La Palma and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, emphasizes that «we are facing a magnificent opportunity to showcase the potential of Palmera gastronomy, positioning it as a tourist resource of great value that we must continue to enhance.» The councilor points out that this choice is mainly thanks to «the work developed by our producers and chefs at the different fairs in which we have participated in recent years, professionals in the sector who have been protagonists in these promotional actions.»

On the other hand, the manager of Saborea España, Lluís Pujol, reports that «after evaluating the different options presented this year, Saborea España has decided to bet on the island of La Palma.» The reasons for this choice have been several. First, the interest of Saborea in being able to involve each and every one of the destinations that are part of the NETWORK, not only having a presence in specific or more common areas. It aims to be consistent with the great wealth and diversity offered by Spanish geography and gastronomy. La Palma is a unique, different destination to discover for many lovers of sustainable and authentic tourism.»

Pujol emphasizes that in this choice, the work that has been done in La Palma in recent years has also been decisive. Identification and enhancement of own gastronomic resources, support for the primary sector, improvements in the management of gastronomic tourism products, and an increasingly greater involvement in the promotional actions of Saborea España. Works that are already bearing fruit and to which many professionals are sensitive.» And finally, «the high level of involvement that the Cabildo de La Palma has shown in organizing the event. Involvement that has translated into making available to the organization whatever resources are needed. Involvement necessary for an event of this nature to be successful.»

This is the first opportunity that La Palma has to host a meeting of the main actors in the country linked to the gastronomy sector with the support of the State Secretariat for Tourism, having the opportunity to showcase and defend the product and cuisine of the Island, as well as being part of initiatives in the Spanish gastronomy field, with a special focus on enogastronomic projects developed with the support of Next Generation funds.

With the participation of a hundred representatives from Saborea España, business associations, European culinary organizations, and regional tourism authorities, among other groups, this meeting will analyze the improvement of gastronomic tourism products in different areas, with special attention to the link with the primary sector, the recovery of gastronomic heritage, image and positioning, or adaptation to different markets.

The sessions will include technical presentations on enogastronomic destinations, practical business workshops, and round tables. Participants will also get to know the gastronomy of La Palma, both the quality and history of the products, with visits to livestock farms, as well as the traditional and fusion cuisine that intertwines on the island, in tastings.

The State Secretariat for Tourism considers these sessions as a preparatory event, in the field of gastronomic tourism, for the Tourism Congress that will take place at the end of the year.
