La Escuela de Arte de Fuerteventura celebra el Festival de Creación Audiovisual Mirafondo
The initiative has the collaboration of the Department of Education and Youth of the Cabildo, and will host the screening of films produced by the students themselves
Next Friday, March 14th, at 6:00 p.m., the films that make up the four categories of the ‘Mirafondo Audiovisual Creation Festival’ will be screened at the Insular Youth Center (CIJ) of Fuerteventura, a project of the Fuerteventura School of Art, which has the collaboration of the Department of Education and Youth of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura.
Attendance at the Gala is free and open to the public, with prior registration until full capacity is reached, through the email address mirafondofilmfestival@gmail.com
During the festival, the films produced by the students themselves in the four sections of the contest will be screened: Documentary (Intrahistories), Experimental Cinema, Counteradvertising, and Guerrilla Cinema.
On this night of premieres, as befits an event of this magnitude, several short films of Experimental Cinema will be screened, three pieces of Documentary Cinema with productions from Intrahistories, in Counteradvertising there will be three more pieces, and the films resulting from Guerrilla Cinema.
The genre of «express» or «guerrilla» cinema will take center stage in Mirafondo with a shooting workshop to be held from Monday, February 10th to Thursday, February 13th at the Tefía Hostel, as a training in coexistence and collaborative work. The films in this section will be produced from start to finish within the workshop and will premiere at the festival Gala.
Two Fine Arts teachers from the Erasmus program, from Italy and Poland, will participate in the festival. One of them, a teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Macerata, will participate in a workshop to create illustrations for the festival’s category catalog. The other will be one of the teachers in the Guerrilla Cinema Workshop from February 10th to 13th at the Tefía Hostel.
In the case of the poster, which is being revealed at this event, the design has been created by students from the Photography and Advertising Graphics programs. The idea behind this poster is to convey a transgressive, youthful, daring, and slightly irreverent image.
Their involvement goes beyond this, as all the visual elements of Mirafondo have been created by them. In the months leading up to the event, the entire Fuerteventura School of Art has been involved in its organization.
Students and teachers have worked on all visual and design aspects from the school’s six programs, such as Interactive, Animation, Photography, Advertising Graphics, Audiovisual Graphics, Ephemeral Architecture, and Projects and Direction of Decoration Works.
Thus, they have not only created the poster and the corporate identity of the event but also other elements such as stand and stage decoration, digital animations, and the awards that the winning projects will receive.
Roberto Canedo and Luis Vilan, teachers at the EAF and festival coordinators, thank the involvement of all the teachers and students from the school’s programs who are dedicated to moving the initiative forward.
The EAF extends its gratitude to the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, which collaborates with the festival by providing the facilities of the Tefía Hostel for the filming of the Guerrilla Cinema section, and to the Insular Youth Center, which will host the festival premiere.
The Councilor for Education and Youth, Adargoma Hernández, stated, «From the Cabildo, we support an initiative carried out by an educational center like the EAF, thanking students and teachers for investing in this festival.»
The presentation was also attended by the councilor of the Fuerteventura Film Commission, Nereida Calero, and the students in charge of the festival’s poster and visual identity: José Manuel Alfaya Fernández, Alejandra Cabrera Vargas, Agustina Gamba Roussineau, Laura Daniela Holguín Falcón, Anastasia Ramos Galkina, and Lourdes Palazón.
The school’s management highlights the excitement generated by this new project, which serves to showcase the students and the results of their training.
The Mirafondo Film Festival follows in the footsteps of other successful initiatives previously held by the EAF, such as photography and art exhibitions, the filming and screening of Intrahistories, or portfolio readings with experts, among other activities where students showcase their work.
