The Fuerteventura en Música Festival returns to the sands of Playa de la Concha on July 4th and 5th with an eclectic, international lineup led by one of the most sought-after groups of the summer, G-5, a supergroup formed by some of the most outstanding musicians in contemporary rumba, namely Kiko Veneno, Muchachito, El Canijo de Jerez, Diego Ratón (Los Delinquentes), and Tomasito. They arrive with new songs in hand and the reissue of their first album, the legendary Tucaratupapi, with which they started this journey in 2006.
In addition to G-5, the FEM stage will welcome one of the great references in current reggae, Queen Omega & The Royals Souls (Trinidad).
On Friday, July 4th, G-5 will take the stage, along with Lehmanns Brothers (France), Natalia Doco (Argentina), Calle Mambo (Chile), and the local band Rabiche, led by the Majorero Fajardo.
On Saturday, July 5th, Queen Omega will perform, along with Baiuca (Galicia), Roy Paci & Aretuska (Italy), Kraak & Smaak (Netherlands), and David El Majorero, who will present his latest project, Contraventura. Both nights will be enhanced by Tenerife DJ Carballeira, with over 30 years of experience in the cultural scene of the Canary Islands.
During the presentation of the lineup, Cabildo President Lola García noted that «El Cotillo is preparing to host one of the most anticipated events on Fuerteventura’s cultural agenda.» «A proposal deeply rooted in our island for over twenty years and aimed at sustainable and environmentally friendly actions, creating a meeting point for music and cultures, also serving as a showcase for our local artists.» García also added, «It significantly contributes to the economic revitalization of the northern zone of Fuerteventura.»
According to Culture Councilor Rayco León, «these are two great nights that kick off the summer with international, national, and, of course, Canarian artists with Majorero participation, delving into the message of multiculturalism and sustainability that has been consistently developed.»
La Oliva Mayor Isaí Blanco highlighted that «each year, El Cotillo hosts one of the most important festivals on the island with artists from around the world gathering in the coastal town. We are proud that the municipality is part of the cultural and musical promotion for the island’s residents and also for those visitors enjoying their holidays in Fuerteventura, always with a vision of care and awareness for our natural environment.»
Festival Artistic Director Mario Alonso thanked the Cabildo for «the opportunity to put together a lineup featuring some of the most important flamenco-rock musicians and Queen Omega as a major reggae reference, a genre that cannot be missing from the FEM.»
FEM 2024 Artists
G-5 is what has always been called a supergroup. Or rather, in its terminology, a ghost group, formed in 2006 by Kiko Veneno, El Canijo de Jerez, Diego Ratón from Los Delinqüentes, Muchachito, and Tomasito. That same year, they released a single album to date, Tucaratupapi (2006), which is currently out of print and cannot even be heard on any digital platform. Now, that first album, Tucaratupapi, is being released for the first time on vinyl and returning to all digital platforms, with a remixed and remastered edition. Stay tuned because everything points to new songs resulting from these encounters coming this spring.
Queen Omega hails from the reggae scene in Trinidad. Her dubplate «No Love» put Trinidadian singer Queen Omega in the spotlight. Last summer, Queen Omega and Little Lion Sound created a global hit with their dubplate on the legendary Next Episode Riddim, amassing over 120 million plays on all social media platforms and earning praise from Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. After 10 years, 2023 marked her comeback with a new album, «Freedom Legacy,» released on March 24 by Baco Records, showcasing her diverse musical influences through authentic lyrics.
Baiuca is a pioneering project that blends traditional Galician music with cutting-edge electronic sounds. Baiuca became a cultural and musical phenomenon almost from its inception. With two full-length albums released (the iconic «Solpor» and «Embruxo»), two EPs («Misturas» and «Paisaxes»), two splits («Adélia,» with the Portuguese group HAEMA, and «Diamante / La Nana,» with Alba Reche), Galician producer and artist Alejandro Guillán has introduced a new concept of musical fusion that has become a reference not only within the country but also beyond our borders.
Roy Paci is a singer, trumpeter, composer, record producer, and founder of the label and production company Etnagigante. With over 40 years of experience, he has been involved in over 500 records, collaborating with artists such as Manu Chao, Mike Patton, Negrita, The Ex, Vinicio Capossela, Gogol Bordello, Macaco, 99 Posse, Daniele Silvestri, Bombino, Caparezza, Hindi Zahra, Ivano Fossati, Subsonica, Piero Pelù, Marlene Kuntz, Frankie Hi-nrg, Tony Levin, among many others.
He has composed soundtracks for film, TV, and theater, receiving various awards, including the prestigious Nastro d’Argento and a David di Donatello nomination. With his band Aretuska, he has set stages in Europe and Latin America on fire with a hybrid and personal sound that fuses his Mediterranean roots with Latin rhythms like samba and cumbia, as well as ska, reggae, R&B, and jazz. He also delivers powerful and vibrant DJ sets, full of joy and energy, taking his distinctive style all over the world.
Kraak & Smaak, an organic electronic party from the Netherlands, consists of Oscar de Jong, Wim Plug, and Mark Kneppers. Kraak & Smaak has impressed with their studio work and live performances, creating refreshing albums and exceptional DJ and live moments during their extensive global tours in Europe, the United States, South America, Asia, China, and Mexico.
Establishing themselves with a distinctly warm and stimulating sound that spans genres like disco, funk, electronic, indie, deep house, soul, and even pop, the vitality of the Dutch group Kraak & Smaak was first introduced to the world through their debut album, «Boogie Angst.»
Natalia Doco, based in Paris since 2012, released her first album, Mucho Chino, in 2014 with Belleville Music and embarked on a successful tour throughout France, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, and Switzerland. In search of complete creative freedom, she decided to open her own record label, Casa del Árbol, and reached out to Axel Krygier to produce her second album, «El Buen Gualicho.» Inspired by her South American roots, the enchanting siren sinks her bare feet into the earth of her ancestors, drawing out a new energy, summoning the moon and spirits, and embodying the ancestral feminine power of her multiple voices.
Calle Mambo, a Chilean group formed in 2013, is back in Europe from April to October 2025 to present their third album, «Retumba la Tierra» (June 6, 2025). After their European tour in the summers of 2023 and 2024 (80 concerts and festivals across Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands) and prestigious stages like El Quai Branly (Paris), Le festival du bout du monde, Tempo Latino, or Sfinks, Calle Mambo returns to Europe in 2025 to showcase their infectious Latin music (Huayno, Cumbia, Timba, Caporal, etc.)!
Rabiche is a super band born out of rumba. A major combo that brings together five Canarian musicians with a notable professional career in the local and national market: Majorero José Antonio Fajardo, Diego Hernández (The Conqueror Project), Carlos Pérez, Jorge Hernández, Manuel C., and Julio Armas.
Rabiche is an exciting crossroads of different musical stitches that was born in Tenerife and whose first steps have been documented by Tenerife filmmaker Miguel G. Morales. Rabiche’s concert at FEM is the band’s debut in Fuerteventura.
David Rodríguez Santana, known as “David El Majorero,” holds a degree in psychopedagogy and a diploma in Music Education from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He was fortunate to take his first steps under the guidance of the renowned timple master Domingo Rodríguez Oramas, known as “El Colorao.” His musical education not only revolves around the timple but also includes classical guitar studies with teachers like Blas Sánchez, Juan Carlos Pérez Brito, and Andrea Dieci, among others. Additionally, he is the author of the book “Coplas y romances de Fuerteventura.” His creative side has led him to create the works featured on his album “Raíces de Maxorata.” David presents his new project “ContraVentura,” delving into the roots of the Canary Islands and his native Fuerteventura, with sounds through the timple and the contra majorera, chordophones with a potential to discover and characterized by their evolution over time, offering new styles.
Carballeira DJ is a cultural manager with extensive experience in design, production, and management of cultural projects. Artistic direction of events. Teaching in artistic subjects related to music. He defines himself as a “Partisan, urban planner of sound and its expression in the form of music. The search for sound, its moment, its energy, and its origin. Dancing is a verb in plural.”
