A man has died this Sunday after drowning as a result of a fall in a difficult-to-access area on the coast of La Oliva, near the FV-106, in the municipality of La Oliva (Fuerteventura), as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
The incident occurred around 12:52 hours, when the operational room of 1-1-2 received an alert reporting the incident, prompting emergency resources to be immediately activated to intervene in the area.
The firefighters from the Extinction and Rescue Service of La Oliva confirmed the impossibility of carrying out the rescue by land, so the helicopter of the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) of the Government of the Canary Islands was activated.
Once in the area, the rescuers from the GES helicopter located the affected person and hoisted him into the aircraft, taking him to a designated landing area, where a medicalized ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) was waiting, whose medical staff confirmed the death.
Meanwhile, the Civil Guard was responsible for conducting the corresponding proceedings.
