The National Police have arrested a 34-year-old man in Arrecife (Lanzarote) who worked as a minor’s soccer coach as the perpetrator of crimes related to child pornography, inducement to prostitution, sexual assault, ‘childgrooming’ of minors, and exhibitionism.
This was reported by the Superior Police Headquarters of the Canary Islands, adding that the same individual had already been arrested in November 2024 for ‘childgrooming’ of a minor he coached, an action that also led to a home search where several computers and mobile phones were seized.
In this regard, the arrested individual, who worked as a youth soccer coach, used a ‘modus operandi’ that involved gaining the trust of the boys and then sending them sexual content through social media, as well as engaging in physical sexual encounters, with two minors reporting sexual assaults.
Thanks to the analysis of the evidence seized during the first arrest, agents from the Family and Women’s Assistance Unit (UFAM) were able to identify and locate eight other underage victims who were coached in soccer by the perpetrator.
In this regard, the National Police indicated that all of them have confirmed and recounted the habitual practices employed by the detainee.
Subsequently, the agents set up a operation to locate and arrest the suspect, which was successfully concluded on April 10th.
Finally, once the police proceedings were completed, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority, who ordered his immediate imprisonment.
