El festival Be Free ofrece actividades hasta el 29 de junio
The festival kicked off with the XXIII LGTBIQ+ Film Showcase of Fuerteventura
This week, the Be Free Fuerteventura 2025 festival has started, a symbol of diversity, culture, and the LGTBIQ+ community, driven by ALTIHAY Fuerteventura, the insular council through the Department of Culture, the City Council of Puerto del Rosario, and Clapso Productions.
The Be Free Fuerteventura 2025 program began on Monday, June 23, with the inauguration of the XXIII LGTBIQ+ Film Showcase of Fuerteventura at the Insular Auditorium, organized by ALTIHAY Fuerteventura in collaboration with Cinemateca Pedro Zerolo and funded by the Department of Culture of the Council. The showcase started with the screening of Tarek, a short film by Anatael Pérez, and later, Triángulos Rosas, a film by Borja Lynch, who shared with the audience the emotions created after watching the movie.
During the showcase’s inauguration, representatives of ALTIHAY Fuerteventura thanked the Department of Culture for collaborating on the showcase, as well as Cinemateca Pedro Zerolo, which has been in charge of curating it for the fourth consecutive year. The Minister of Culture, Rayco León, highlighted the work of ALTIHAY, which carries out its activism through various disciplines, in this case, through cinema.
Today, Tuesday, June 24, starting at 11:30 a.m., the short films El Mueble de las Fotos and El Mundo Entero were screened, and from 8:00 p.m., the shorts La Duda, Sobremesa: Family Reunión, and the feature film Toll. On Wednesday, the 25th, starting at 8:00 p.m., the selected short films from the 2025 short film contest will be screened, followed by a public vote.
Be Free Fuerteventura will continue on Thursday, June 26, with the Pride Concert featuring artists Sofía Coll, Kuve, Gara Alemán, and Marta Umpiérrez at the Palace of Training and Congresses. Additionally, on Friday, June 27, the Altihay 2025 Awards will be presented, followed by the show Divas in Drags.
Other highlighted events include the ‘Dive for Diversity’ on June 28 at the Herbania Sports Club and the musical Los Tacones de Papá, for which tickets can be purchased at ecoentradas.com or the website culturafuerteventura.es
Also on Saturday, the Fuerte Petarda Party will take place at 10:00 p.m. at the Palace of Training and Congresses, and on Sunday, June 29, the Diversity and Memory March and the Aquadrag Gala at Playa de los Pozos, with DJ Petriclón closing the event.
