The working group aims to focus on the category of specialist firefighters so that the bases can serve as the foundation for the following categories of corporal, sergeant, and officer

The Cabildo de La Palma convened a working group, which has made progress alongside trade unions on specific bases for the call for the selection of 18 specialist firefighter positions, in the civil servant category, to provide urban services on the island.

The Minister of Human Resources, Fernando González, emphasizes that this initial meeting has made it possible to create a working forum in which trade unions and political groups have participated to propose specific bases for the coverage of these positions.

The minister highlights that this meeting has laid the groundwork among all parties, allowing for consensus to implement this new service.

Therefore, Fernando González indicates that the government group understands the need to work hand in hand with the social part of the negotiation table, which are the trade unions, as previously announced in the last plenary session of the institution.

The minister emphasizes that the aim of this initial contact is for the trade unions to provide any modifications or additions they believe should be included in the bases to fit within the framework of collective bargaining. Additionally, the working group aims to focus on the category of specialist firefighters so that the bases can serve as the foundation for the following categories of corporal, sergeant, and officer.

Both the government group and the trade unions, as well as the representatives of the political groups, expressed in the working group that they are aware of the uniqueness of the island of La Palma and the need to reach a consensus to establish bases that are in line with regulations but also reflect this particularity that has been maintained regarding the current provision of firefighting services.

The commitment of trade unions and the Human Resources technicians of the Cabildo de La Palma is to mutually share proposals to be included in the bases that have been presented in the working group and to convene a second working group next month with the integrated document regarding the annotations provided by the different parties.
