A cayuco with 54 migrants on board –46 adults, one woman, and seven minors– arrived on Saturday afternoon at the port of La Restinga, as reported by sources from Salvamento Marítimo and the CGT union, noting that this is the first arrival to the ‘island of the meridian’ after 34 days.
The boat was located by the radar about four miles south of the island, and the Guardia Civil informed Salvamento, which dispatched the Salvamar Dipha to the location, accompanying it safely into the port.
Personnel from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) and Red Cross provided the usual medical attention at the pier.
