Molecular biologist and astronaut Sara García will present the book ‘Órbitas: Apuntes de una vida en continua exploración’ this Saturday afternoon in Tenerife. The event will start at 5:30 pm at La Laguna Gran Hotel.

The initiative is part of the INnoBar program of the Scientific and Technological Park of Tenerife, a space for meeting and collaboration designed to connect, share, and build community, as reported by the Island Council, organizer of the event, in a press release.

Thus, the project aims to inspire and discover ideas to promote innovation and development. It is a networking space that includes inspirational talks, in this case the presentation of García’s book.

The island institution also emphasizes that the activity aims to act as a «meeting point» for those transforming ideas into real projects, and therefore at the end of the book presentation, there will be a meeting with the attendees.

Sara García Alonso (León, 1989) is a molecular biologist and Spanish astronaut candidate. In September 2024, she was selected as a member of the reserve of the European Space Agency (ESA), becoming the first Spanish woman officially training to go to space.

ABOUT THE BOOK

In her book, the author shares her particular experience, peppered with personal anecdotes, to offer keys on how to approach and face challenges. In this way, with an inspiring and vitalistic testimony, the author merges essay, fiction, and autobiography to reflect on the impulses that guide throughout life and shape the way we see the world, while encouraging us to «never give up in the pursuit of our dreams.»

Divided into six ‘orbits,’ each chapter addresses topics such as the search for identity, the freedom to make our own decisions, the courage to challenge the established, the expansion of physical and mental limits, and the weight of traditions. All this with a critical, sometimes ironic, look at conventions.
