La Laguna hosts a new edition of TEDx La Laguna, an event that brings together a dozen prominent voices in thought, communication, science, art, and gastronomy. The event, organized under TED license and with the support of the City Council as an institutional sponsor, once again projects the municipality as a space for reflection, creativity, and idea exchange with impact.
The event was presented at the Casa de los Capitanes in an institutional ceremony with the participation of the Councilor for Tourism and Commerce, Estefanía Díaz; the organizer and licensee of TEDx La Laguna, Edgar Sabina del Castillo; and the journalist and presenter specializing in gastronomy and travel, Verónica Zumalacárregui, one of the invited speakers of this edition.
«TEDx La Laguna not only represents a window for inspiring ideas, but also serves as a positioning tool for our municipality. It connects talent with the territory and projects an image of a modern, lively city committed to knowledge,» said the Councilor for Tourism and Commerce, Estefanía Díaz.
Díaz also emphasized the gastronomic aspect of the event with a direct invitation to the journalist: «We want Verónica to taste La Laguna. Here she will find a gastronomy focused on zero-kilometer products, full of flavor and, of course, delicious.»
The program of TEDx La Laguna includes ten speeches of up to 18 minutes, a musical performance, a gastronomic space with local products, and an experiential tour of the historic center of the city. The content is professionally recorded for subsequent dissemination on TEDx platforms, expanding the reach of the event and the municipality.
The organizer of TEDx La Laguna, Edgar Sabina, highlighted in a press conference that «This event is born with a vocation for continuity, with the intention of making TEDx La Laguna a national reference. Not only because it is held in a World Heritage City, but also because it is the city where I was born, where I studied, and where I obtained my doctorate. Being able to develop an event here that combines knowledge, emotion, and community is undoubtedly a privilege.»
Verónica Zumalacárregui stated that «giving a TED talk is one of the most special gifts I have received. I am passionate about the islands and I was eager to return to La Laguna, a place with a unique essence. I deeply appreciate that TEDx La Laguna has trusted me to be part of this inspiring event. Although I specialize in public speaking, this experience challenges and excites me like few others.»
In addition to Zumalacárregui, a journalist and presenter specializing in gastronomy and travel; the other speakers of the day will be Michelle Calvó, a Canarian actress with international projection; the brothers Rubén, Bryan, and Aday Medina, from the historic Zulay Bakery; sports journalist Óscar Herrera; science communicator Jessica Portillo; agricultural entrepreneur Ángela Delgado; artificial intelligence expert Carlos Delgado; singer Idaira Fernández; choreographer Rafa Méndez; and executive coach Oliver Pérez, all with personal and professional stories that seek to inspire, excite, and generate conversation from diverse perspectives. A project that also has the support of the Government of the Canary Islands through GMR Canarias and Volcanic Xperience.
La Laguna thus consolidates its position as a host city for innovative and cultural projects, capable of generating conversation, inspiration, and visibility within and outside the Archipelago.
