A swimmer had to be assisted on Wednesday afternoon by personnel from the Canarian Emergency Service when, about 50 meters off the coast of Yaiza (Lanzarote), at Papagayo beach, he was in trouble, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
The incident occurred around 14:02 hours when the 1-1-2 operational room received an alert about the incident, prompting the immediate activation of the necessary emergency resources to intervene in the area.
The affected person managed to get out on his own, with the help of a lifeguard attached to a rope provided from the coast, safely reaching a cove.
Firefighters reached the affected person and transported him to the ambulance.
The SUC personnel provided initial assistance to the affected person, who had minor abrasions. After an initial assessment, he was transferred to the Playa Blanca Health Center. The Local Police collaborated with the intervening services and initiated proceedings.
