A 69-year-old driver died early on Friday morning after a head-on collision between a car and a bus at kilometer 10 of the GC-2 road, in the municipality of Antigua (Fuerteventura).
According to the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (Cecoes) 112, the first responders confirmed that the driver of the car was in cardiac arrest, so they started cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers.
The same procedures were continued upon the arrival of the personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), but they were unsuccessful and had to confirm the driver’s death.
On the other hand, Cecoes stated that none of the passengers on the bus involved in the accident were injured.
Finally, firefighters from the Prevention, Firefighting, and Rescue Service of the Fuerteventura City Council collaborated with the emergency services, while the Civil Guard took care of the corresponding procedures.
