Lanzarote once again positions itself as a gastronomic destination of reference at the 38th edition of the Salón Gourmets in Madrid, where it is present through Saborea Lanzarote. The fair, which takes place from Monday, April 7th to Thursday, the 10th, is the largest event dedicated to high-end products in Europe and a unique opportunity to showcase the richness and uniqueness of Lanzarote’s cuisine.
The President of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has highlighted the importance of this event for the island. «Our participation in the Salón Gourmets reinforces our commitment to the primary sector and gastronomy as key elements of our identity and tourist appeal. It is an unbeatable opportunity to show the world the quality of our products and the talent of our chefs.»
In this regard, the Minister of Economic Promotion, Nori Machín, has emphasized that «Saborea Lanzarote is a fundamental platform for the projection of our enogastronomy at the national and international level, betting on innovation without losing the essence and tradition that make our cuisine unique.»
An agenda full of flavor
Throughout the four days of the fair, Saborea Lanzarote will unfold a varied agenda of activities, including tastings, pairings, and tastings of emblematic products from the island. In this way, the Salón Gourmets will feature a dozen wineries from the Designation of Origin of Lanzarote, artisan cheese producers from the AQUAL Association, and a wide variety of local and innovative producers that combine tradition and culinary creativity through jams, gofio (toasted cornmeal), chocolates, beers, Janubio salt, and liquors.
The Salón Gourmets will once again be the stage where Lanzarote showcases the richness of its pantry and the creativity of its professionals. The island attends with the aim of consolidating its presence in the gastronomic market and strengthening the ties between producers, chefs, and distributors, consolidating a gastronomic model based on quality and local identity.
Meeting with university students
During the opening day this Monday, the President of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, along with the Minister of Economic Promotion, Nori Machín, held an enriching meeting with university students from the island in Madrid to share opinions on the challenges and opportunities of local gastronomy in a global context. This space served to inspire the new generations to get involved in the defense and promotion of local products and the traditional recipe book of the island.
In this regard, Oswaldo Betancort stated that «our young people are the best ambassadors of Lanzarote. They represent the future of our island and should be proud of their roots, of our products that taste like home, that tell stories, and speak of our land.»
For her part, Nori Machín highlighted that «seeing students passionate about what is ours, interested in knowing and projecting the flavors of Lanzarote, is a sign that we are sowing well. We bet on youth as a driver of innovation and authenticity, because they are the ones who can best convey to the world what it means to eat on this island.»
