Programa de talleres prácticos de agricultura regenerativa en La Laguna.
The Department of Rural Development and Primary Sector of the City Council of La Laguna has opened registrations this week for a new training cycle of six practical workshops, focusing on the multiple benefits of regenerative agriculture. These activities, free of charge and with limited capacity, will take place between the Adult Education Center of the Northeast Region (Tejina) and the Organic Farm Nuria (Valle de Guerra), between the months of April, May, and June.
The Mayor of the City Council, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, explained that this initiative «is part of our work to promote sustainable productions and food sovereignty, through environmental education and citizen awareness of the importance of territorial sustainability within our municipality, aligning with European policies and guidelines.»
The councilor in charge of the Area, Cristina Ledesma, highlighted that «one of the productive factors that still limits this activity globally is the lack of organic matter in available soils. In general, these lands are degraded by intensive practices and the continued use of synthetic products and fertilizers.»
In this line, the councilor from La Laguna emphasized that «regenerative agriculture emerges as a feasible alternative to improve the quality of plantations, promoting biodiversity through carbon fixation. Through this method, healthier and more productive crops are obtained, reducing dependence on external inputs and also allowing significant water savings.»
