The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, received on Tuesday in the Plenary Hall of the City Council the 60 candidates who aspire to become this coming weekend the Romera Mayor, Romera Infantil, and Romera de Mayores of the Fiestas and the Regional Romeria of San Benito Abad 2025. Also present at the event were the Councilor of Festivities of the City Council, Dailos González, and the Second Deputy Mayor, Fran Hernández.
Luis Yeray Gutiérrez wished the best of luck to all the candidates and celebrated that «in this edition we will once again break the record of candidates in the three categories, which is a great indicator of the good health enjoyed by these beloved and eagerly awaited festivities by all the residents of La Laguna.»
The Mayor emphasized that «all the romeras of San Benito Abad play a very special role in the programming of these days, proudly representing our city and promoting a greater knowledge of the different regional costumes that enrich our culture.»
For his part, Dailos González thanked the interest and dedication of all the candidates, the different companies behind each aspirant, and especially their families «who will undoubtedly experience with emotion this coming weekend, when we will meet the different award winners on the stage of the Teatro Leal.»
In this regard, the councilor recalled that the first ceremony will be the one that will crown the Romera Mayor of the Festivities, this coming Saturday at 8:00 p.m., which will be preceded by the traditional romero walk through the historic center of the city, starting from Plaza Doctor Olivera. This route will once again feature regional dances and musical groups.
Sunday will be the turn of the gala for the election of the Romeras Infantil and de los Mayores, starting at 6:00 p.m. This event will also serve as the framework for the Pedro Molina Memorial to the Trades and Elderly People of San Benito.
The 35 candidates for the title of Romera Mayor are Jésica María Vizcaino, Sheyla García, Carolina Hernández, Anjara Rodríguez, Arantxa Vázquez, Davinia Pérez, Laritza García, Leire García, Sheila del Carmen Luis, Silvia Rodríguez, Noelia Veiga, Sofía María Palenzuela, Noelia del Castillo, Gara Hernández, Thalía González, Omayra Castilla, Lourdes María de la Cruz, Nayara Marichal, Camila Belén Vila, Nerea González, Nicole García, Andrea Pérez, Brenda González, Sonia Mendoza, Yerislenia Peña, Laura Santana, Janet Afonso, Amalia de Armas, Tania González, Eva Mena, Adriana Rodríguez, Claudia Panizo, Gabriela Mederos, Daniela Zamora, and Leyre Brito.
In the case of the Romera Infantil, the 15 candidates who will take the stage at the Teatro Leal this Sunday are Keyla Barrios, Indhira González, Leyre María Prieto, Elvira Padrón, India Zalba, Tifany Abreu, Sofía Susana Pérez, Jimena Lorenzo, Irene Isabel Torres, Elizabeth del Rosario, Daniela Cairós, Ainalem Morales, Valeria Medina, Ayla Pérez, and Ivana Marrero. Finally, in the category of the Mayores, the 10 aspirants will be Isabel Suárez, Milagros Martín, María Candelaria González, María Mercedes Fernández, Evangelina González, Concepción Covadonga, María del Carmen Hernández, Cecilia López, Matilde Mederos, and Adelina Elisa Ramos. During the event, the Romera Mayor of the Fiestas and the Regional Romeria of San Benito Abad 2024, Andrea Álvarez, was also present.
