The initiative, presented at the Juan Ismael Art Center, will allocate more than one million euros to improve school infrastructure on the Island and promote employment policies

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has introduced the employment plan ‘El Cabildo, Actúa 2025’, an initiative with an investment of 1,087,253.37 euros aimed at improving and rehabilitating infrastructure in nearly thirty educational centers on the Island, as well as promoting active employment policies for unemployed individuals.

The event, held at the Juan Ismael Art Center in Puerto del Rosario, was attended by the island president, Lola García; the Employment Development Councilor, Nuria Cabrera; the Education Councilor, Adargoma Hernández; and the deputy mayor of Puerto del Rosario, Juan Jiménez. Also present were councilors Juan José Rodríguez and Rubén González (La Oliva), Rosa Rodríguez (Puerto del Rosario), and América Soto (Antigua).

During the event, Lola García stated, «This project will not only improve the infrastructure of our schools and institutes but also generate employment in Fuerteventura, offering opportunities to unemployed individuals and contributing to the social and economic development of our Island.» She also highlighted the coordination between the Employment Development and Education Councils of the Cabildo, educational centers, and municipalities to carry it out, as well as with the Government of the Canary Islands to obtain the necessary permits.

Nuria Cabrera welcomed the 37 individuals who make up this new edition of the ‘El Cabildo actúa’ plan. «Following the success of the previous edition, we are once again taking a project so necessary to ensure a safer and more comfortable environment in educational centers throughout the entire island.»

In this sense, this program aims to address the needs of 28 educational centers in different municipalities, improving their infrastructure with minor construction work, conditioning, and rehabilitation to ensure a safer and more comfortable environment for both students and teachers. According to the island Education Councilor, Adargoma Hernández, «it is important to collaborate with municipalities, the Government of the Canary Islands, and the centers that have requested the actions that will be carried out throughout the duration of the employment plan.»

The schools where these actions will take place are CEIP Francisca Pérez; CEIP Valles de Ortega; CEO Antigua; CEIP Alcaldesa Amparo Torres; CEIP Gumersindo Martell; CEIP Villaverde; IES Corralejo; IES La Oliva; CEIP Barranco del Ciervo; CEIP Costa Calma; CEIP El Ciervo; CEIP Pájara; CEE Puerto del Rosario; CEIP Agustín Millares Carlo; CEIP Puerto del Rosario; CEIP Poeta Domingo Velázquez; IES Puerto Cabras; IES San Diego; IES Puerto del Rosario; IES Santo Tomás Aquino; CEIP Cristóbal García Blairzy; CEIP Gran Tarajal; CEIP Las Playitas; CEIP Tarajalejo; CEIP Tesejerague; CEIP Tiscamanita; CEIP Tuineje; CEPA Fuerteventura Sur and IES Gran Tarajal.
