El SCS hace un llamamiento urgente a donar sangre tras accidente en La Gomera

The General Directorate of Blood Donation and Hemotherapy of the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) urgently calls on the population to collaborate with blood donation, following the accident that occurred this Tuesday on the island of La Gomera — which resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to a dozen others — in order to reinforce blood reserves.

All fixed points of the Canarian Transfusion Network, in the main headquarters and in the hospital centers, are available for donors, as well as the different mobile units deployed in the archipelago.

In Tenerife, you can donate at the fixed blood donation point in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, located on Méndez Núñez, from Monday to Friday from 8:15 am to 8:30 pm (except holidays).

There is also an active fixed point located at the San Isidro Health Center in Granadilla de Abona, where you can donate from Monday to Friday from 1:45 pm to 7:30 pm.

This point has reserved parking spaces for donors and telephone assistance is provided through the number 677 980 518, except on holidays.

Regarding the fixed points of the hospital network, the service is available on floor 0, next to the elevators, at the University Hospital of the Canary Islands, where you can go without an appointment from Sunday to Friday and holidays, from 8:30 am to 9:30 pm, and on Saturdays, from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm and from 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The phone number for assistance is 922 678 670.

At the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, healthcare professionals are available from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, and on Saturdays, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, except on holidays. No appointment is necessary, and the phone number for assistance is 922 602 060.

Additionally, you can also donate at Hospiten Bellevue, on Calle Alemania, 6, in Puerto de la Cruz, by appointment at 922 385 235 (option 1), from Monday to Friday, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm, and from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm (except holidays).

WHERE TO DONATE IN GRAN CANARIA

In relation to the fixed points of Blood Donation, you can go to donate at the provincial headquarters located at Calle Alfonso XIII, number 4, from 8:15 am to 9:00 pm, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, or in the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, at the annex to the Vecindario Health Center, on Monday, from 4:15 pm to 8:15 pm; Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:15 am to 1:15 pm and from 4:15 pm to 8:15 pm, and Friday from 9:15 am to 1:15 pm (except holidays).

Other fixed points of the Canarian Transfusion Network are also active (without prior appointment) such as the Maternal and Child University Hospital of the Canary Islands, from Monday to Friday, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm; the University Hospital of Gran Canaria Dr. Negrín, from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm; and the University Hospital Insular of Gran Canaria, where you can donate from Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 7:30 pm, except on holidays (all have parking spaces for donors).

At Hospiten Roca San Agustín, you can donate by phone appointment, by calling 928 730 362 (option 3), from Monday to Wednesday, from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm (except holidays).

Fuerteventura

In Fuerteventura, you can donate at the General Hospital of Fuerteventura, located on the airport road, kilometer 1, in Puerto del Rosario, where you will find the fixed blood donation point of the Canarian Transfusion Network on the island.

This point will also be operational from Monday to Friday from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. To donate, it is advisable to request an appointment by calling 928 546 684 (except holidays).

In the case of Lanzarote, the fixed blood donation point in Arrecife remains operational, at the University Hospital Doctor José Molina Orosa, on the road to Tinajo, from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, except holidays.

You can go without a phone appointment or by scheduling one at 928 595 572 (option 3).

Also, the Insular Hospital Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, located at Calle El Larguero s/n, has an extraction point where you can donate blood from Monday to Wednesday, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, and on Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (except holidays), it is necessary to make an appointment by calling 922 140 200 or 922 140 213.

EL HIERRO

The Insular Hospital Nuestra Señora de los Reyes, on Calle Barriales 1, has an extraction point where you can donate without an appointment, or by calling 690886059 (the hours to request an appointment are from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm).

Donations can be made on Mondays from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, except on holidays.

The General University Hospital of La Palma, on Calle Buenavista de Arriba, in Breña Alta, has an extraction point where you can collaborate, with or without an appointment, from Monday to Thursday, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, and on Fridays from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm.

It remains closed on Saturdays, and on Sundays you can donate from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

This donation point provides the following telephone assistance numbers for donors: 922185321 and 922185320.

To be a blood donor, you must meet certain essential requirements such as being between 18 and 65 years old (up to sixty if it is your first donation), weighing more than fifty kilograms, being in good general health, and not being pregnant.
