Insular services such as Firefighters, Roads, and Works and Machinery remain on alert to ensure a quick and safe response if required
The first 24 hours after the declaration of a Rain Alert situation in Fuerteventura have concluded without relevant incidents. The Cabildo and municipalities have reinforced their staff, as explained by the president of the Cabildo, Lola García, who thanks the citizens for their collaboration in following the recommendations and precautions.
The Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Lolina Negrín, points out that «we are keeping insular services such as the Prevention, Extinguishing of Fires and Rescue Service (SPEIS), the Roads Service, and the Works and Machinery Service on alert to guarantee a quick and safe response if necessary».
In accordance with Decree 2407/2025 of the Presidency of the Cabildo, the Emergency Directorate, supported by the Technical Directorate, proceeded to execute all necessary measures such as organizing teams in key services to address a crisis situation and restore normality.
The mobilization of the necessary means and resources of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, as well as establishing communication systems with CECOES 1-1-2 and notifying the activation of the PEIN of Fuerteventura to the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies, CECOES 1-1-2, the municipalities of Fuerteventura, the Insular Directorate of the State Administration, the Spanish Red Cross, the Civil Guard, and the Port Authority of Las Palmas, generated a wide network of immediate action if required.
An example of these devices set up awaiting activation are the teams of the Works and Machinery Service of the Cabildo, formed by two teams (north-center and south-center), each with a flatbed truck to transport machinery, an excavator, and a grader, with their respective specialized operators.
