Visita a obras hidráulicas en Tinache y El Sobaco – Cabildo de Lanzarote

The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, the Water Councilor, Domingo Cejas, and the Planning and Projects Councilor, María Jesús Tovar, have visited the hydraulic works in Montaña de Tinache, in Tinajo, and El Sobaco road in San Bartolomé.

In the Montaña de Tinache area, 4.5 kilometers of pipeline have already been installed, and in El Sobaco, a section of 1.5 kilometers will be put into operation.

The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, the Water Councilor, Domingo Cejas, and the Planning and Projects Councilor, María Jesús Tovar, have visited the hydraulic works for the improvement and expansion of the water supply network being carried out in Montaña de Tinache, in Tinajo, and El Sobaco road in San Bartolomé.

The works in Montaña de Tinache, in the municipality of Tinajo, are being carried out by the company Hormiconsa Canarias S.A., with a budget of 1,439,043.40 euros, and the expectation that the works will be completed during this year. Regarding the works in El Sobaco road, in the municipality of San Bartolomé, they are being carried out by the company Transportes y Excavaciones Tiagua S.L., for a total amount of 67,431.23 euros, including IGIC, and will be completed during the month of June.

«The action and investment plan of the Water Consortium is following the roadmap to address the demands of the residents, and improve and expand the water supply network in those areas most affected by water cuts, such as the municipality of Tinajo, or those where the distribution networks have not reached, like El Sobaco road,» as pointed out by the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort.

«With the completion of these projects, we hope to significantly improve the efficiency and coverage of the drinking water supply service in these municipalities, thus contributing to the development of the area and the well-being of the residents,» Betancort adds.

Despite the delays in the works in Montaña de Tinache, due to the need to make modifications to the initial project and budget, 4.5 kilometers of pipeline have already been installed, and «it is expected that the recovery of the scattered reservoir in Tinajo and the improvement of the supply in Mancha Blanca and the town of Tinajo may be completed during this year,» as anticipated by the Water Councilor, Domingo Cejas.

In turn, the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, expressed great satisfaction with the start of these works and thanked «the collaboration and involvement of the Water Consortium in this important action for his municipality.»

As explained by the Water Councilor, Domingo Cejas, «the works consist of adapting the tanks located in Montaña de Tinache, reconstructing their roofs, waterproofing the tanks, and installing a pipeline that connects all the tanks to the pumping station, through a bypass, allowing the municipality of Tinajo to have water reserves to prevent cuts.»

This project is funded 80% by FDCAN funds and 20% by the Cabildo de Lanzarote. The Councilor for Finance and Planning and Projects of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, María Jesús Tovar, highlighted that «the Cabildo allocates a total of 14 million euros from FDCAN to improve hydraulic works to combat the water emergency, acting on the most urgent and necessary ones, as we have also done with the tender of the Central Supply pipeline work, which has a budget of 6 million euros.»

1,500 meters of supply pipeline in El Sobaco

This project aims to carry out the works for the improvement and expansion of the drinking water supply network in El Sobaco road, located in the municipality of San Bartolomé, in the area of Finca de La Florida.

The intervention includes the installation of over 1,500 meters of PVC-O pipeline with a nominal diameter of 90 mm, with the goal of increasing the hydraulic capacity of the existing network and extending the service to those plots that currently lack supply in the area.

The works to be carried out include, among others, the opening and excavation of trenches, installation of the new pipeline, backfilling and compaction of the trench with suitable material, and replacement of the affected pavement through resurfacing, ensuring proper integration into the existing road.

This intervention responds to the need to provide the area with a hydraulic infrastructure adequate to the growing demand, as the current network has a clearly insufficient capacity to meet consumption needs, especially during peak demand periods.
