Turismo amplía plazo para solicitar subvenciones hasta junio

The new period extends until June 30th

The Ministry of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands has extended until June 30th the deadline for submitting applications for economic aid aimed at financing energy efficiency and circular economy projects of tourism companies located on the islands, with the aim of reducing carbon footprint and energy consumption.

This is to support tourist, leisure, and restaurant establishments, which will have more time to apply for these subsidies, financed with European Next Generation funds, within the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, with a total amount of 14,988,784.14 euros, as reported by the Ministry in a statement.

The regional department indicates that to date, 191 applications have been registered, and with budget still available, the deadline has been extended, published today in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC). The call covers 100% of the investment made up to a maximum of 150,000 euros.

ABOUT THE GRANT PROGRAM

Among the various actions that this grant program will fund are the implementation of sensors that allow the monitoring of consumption and optimize energy, food, and water savings, as well as the implementation of management systems.

This is complemented by the use of materials that promote thermal insulation and more efficient technologies, as well as interventions such as waste management and those aimed at reuse and recycling.

Additionally, improvements in lighting facilities and equipment are included, as well as the incorporation of efficient household appliances and air conditioning units, along with interventions in thermal installations aimed at insulating boilers or pipes.

The grant program also includes the digitization, automation, and control of building management systems, as well as training and awareness actions for staff and customers on energy efficiency.

Interested individuals can submit applications electronically on the Government of the Canary Islands’ website until June 30th, and not until April 30th as previously stipulated.
