Preparativos del Lanzarote Urban Contest 2025

After the success of its first edition, the Cabildo de Lanzarote, in collaboration with the Ayuntamiento de Arrecife, is finalizing the organization of the Lanzarote Urban Contest 2025 through its Youth and Culture departments, a competition that reinforces its commitment to young talent and urban culture.
The event will take place on Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21, at the Agramar Fairground in Arrecife. Public representatives from both institutions met this week to finalize the last details of the grand event.
The president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, emphasized that «the youth of Lanzarote and La Graciosa have talent, enthusiasm, and creativity, and this kind of initiative allows us to showcase it on a large scale. We are not only investing in youth leisure, but also in an innovative cultural model that puts our island on the map of major urban festivals.»
On the other hand, the deputy mayor of the Ayuntamiento de Arrecife, Echedey Eugenio, celebrated that the capital «is becoming a hub for urban culture in the Canary Islands. These events not only energize our capital, but also strengthen the involvement of our youth.»
Furthermore, the insular vice president, María Jesús Tovar, pointed out after the working meeting that thanks to the FDCAN funds, events can be organized «that have a real and positive impact on youth and cultural development on the island. The HCU 2025 is an example of how well-directed public funding can transform a space into a hub for talent, cohesion, and tourism projection.»
The Youth Councilor of the Institution, Aroa Revelo, explained that the Cabildo is not only organizing concerts. «We are creating a cultural landscape on the island where young people are protagonists. We want them to feel that this stage also belongs to them.» Meanwhile, the Youth Councilor of Arrecife, Rosmen Quevedo, highlighted how «the Lanzarote Urban Contest is an opportunity for young people to express themselves, learn, and connect with national and international references.»
With this and other similar initiatives, the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Ayuntamiento de Arrecife continue to work towards establishing the island and its capital as reference points for youth, alternative leisure, and healthy activities.
Abundant Local Talent
The Lanzarote Urban Contest (HCU) was born with a clear purpose: to be a springboard for emerging artists from the Archipelago. That’s why it includes the annual celebration of the Honor Canario Urban Fest.
Next Friday and Saturday, we will see on stage the five finalists who will be announced this Tuesday, and who will shine as opening acts at the HCU 2025, where they will share the stage for two days with big names in national and international urban music such as Cali y El Dandee, JC Reyes, Bejo, Sara Socas, Chuty, and Daniela Blasco, among other artists.
In addition to the music competition, the festival also features the LZ Urban Dance competition, a showcase of the richness and diversity of urban culture that has brought together over 150 local youths in both categories.
The Minister of Culture, Jesús Machín, emphasized that «the youth of Lanzarote and La Graciosa not only consume urban culture, they produce it, transform it, and export it. The Urban Contest and the Honor Canario Urban Fest are a reflection of a youth that has its own voice, rhythm, and identity.»
The HCU 2025 will not only be about music and dance. The venue will have spaces designed for a complete urban experience, including a gastronomic area, chill-out zone, leisure spaces, and complementary activities.
All of this in a safe and accessible environment, with a specific protocol to ensure the responsible attendance of minors.
