Ópera de Tenerife closed the 2024-2025 season with an attendance of 22,387 spectators at all shows, representing a 7.7 percent increase compared to the 19,397 achieved in the previous year.
The majority of attendees concentrated on the productions of Madama Butterfly, Giovanna d’Arco, Ariadne auf Naxos, and La bella Susona, which were followed by 12,766 spectators at the Symphony Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife.
The Counselor of Culture of the Cabildo de Tenerife, José Carlos Acha, emphasizes in a statement that the efforts being made from the Auditorio de Tenerife in opera «are yielding results» as evidenced this season by the «absolute record of subscribers.»
Acha also expresses optimism and believes that these figures will continue to improve.
«We are on the verge of the most ambitious season in the history of Ópera de Tenerife, which encourages us to trust that the response from fans will once again surpass what we have just achieved,» he details.
The new project, ‘Ópera en minúscula,’ held at Espacio La Granja, kicked off the season and gathered 665 spectators.
The baroque opera Giulio Cesare in Egitto, staged at Teatro Guimerá, attracted 544 people, and 1,121 attended the four performances of Trouble in Tahiti at the Chamber Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife.
The family-friendly production of El retablo de maese Pedro, programmed for this year, was enjoyed by 1,750 spectators.
Ramón Gener once again became an ambassador for the Ópera de Tenerife season, and his five talks at the Chamber Hall were attended by 1,774 people.
Ópera de Tenerife had 1,212 subscribers — 223 of them under 30 years old — in the 2024-2025 season, and for the upcoming season, 970 have already been secured with over three months left before the premiere of the first performance of Yerma.
The subscription season, in addition to the work of Heitor Villa-Lobos, includes El holandés errante, Adiós a la bohemia, Orfeo ed Euridice, Roméo et Juliette, and the zarzuela La verbena de la Paloma.
The subscription purchase period remains open until the first performance, and tickets for most of the titles in the 2025-2026 lyrical season can already be purchased.
The six titles can be acquired for 125 euros and 30 euros for those under 30 years old.
