A 47-year-old man has died this Thursday after suffering a stabbing near the port of Valle Gran Rey, in La Gomera, as reported by the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security of the 112 in the Canary Islands.
In addition, sources from the Civil Guard, who are keeping the investigation open, confirm to Europa Press that a man has been arrested, accused of homicide.
The incident occurred at 03:01 hours this Thursday, where personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) and Primary Care responded, confirming that the victim, a resident of the municipality, had a stab wound in the chest.
Despite the maneuvers performed, they could only confirm his death.
The City Council of Valle Gran Rey has declared three days of official mourning in the town and expresses its dismay and concern over this incident, as well as its condolences, closeness, and affection to all family and friends.
Thus, starting this Thursday at 12:00 hours, official mourning will begin, suspending all public events planned for the next three days, including the Carnival events scheduled for this weekend.
Likewise, the City Council urges the competent authorities to work to clarify the facts as soon and as efficiently as possible and to bring the person responsible for these acts to justice.
