La zona del muelle de La Pescadería en Arrecife reabierta al baño tras análisis de Sanidad.

The City Council of Arrecife (Lanzarote) reopens the bathing area at La Pescadería pier, after the analysis by the Health Area, which has shown «good quality» of its waters.

As reported by the council in a statement, the Health Area of Lanzarote has notified the Department of Environment and Beaches that bathing is allowed again following the results of the analysis, so the council has removed the sign where bathing was discouraged in that area.

The Beach Department points out that one of the possible causes being studied by the Health Area may be related to «this time of high tides and the fact that the entire area was reclaimed land from the sea» in the 1950s, so with the high tides and low tides, «some small sediment» could have been dragged that was reflected in the periodic analysis carried out by Health in the waters of the coast of the entire island, as well as in the whole of the Canary Islands.

The Beach Councilor, Davinia Déniz, pointed out that this area of La Pescadería «is occasionally used» by some swimmers to take a dip, while highlighting that «all» the maritime coastline of Arrecife offers «optimal quality» conditions of its waters and services on the beaches that allow bathers to enjoy them at any time of the year, especially in these «very hot» weeks due to the high temperatures being recorded.
