La Laguna presenta ‘Verano Joven 2025’: más de 60 actividades para la juventud.

The City Council of La Laguna presented this morning the ‘Summer Youth 2025’ program, a cultural and healthy leisure proposal aimed at the youth population of the municipality, with more than 60 activities that will take place between June and September in 21 different locations. Under the motto Youth Passport: A Lagunera Adventure, this initiative promotes the enjoyment of free time from an active, creative, and participative perspective.
During the presentation, held in Plaza del Cristo, the Councilor for Education and Youth, Sergio Eiroa, emphasized that «this program arises from joint work with collectives and the desire that no corner of the municipality is left out of the youth map. The ‘passport’ is not just a symbolic tool, it is also an invitation to live and share, to move around the municipality, to meet and build community. We want the youth to feel like protagonists and active parts of their environment.»
The program includes outdoor summer cinema, concerts, ceramics workshops, urban dance, and scenic activities like the Cuenteando cycle, which will visit different areas of the municipality. There will also be youth meetings like La Joveneta or Territorio Joven, in spaces like Taco, Las Mantecas, or Valle Jiménez, with games, music, and experiences designed for direct participation. Additionally, the program includes salsa routes, escape rooms, excursions, digital experiences like artificial intelligence workshops, as well as specific activities for neighborhoods like La Candelaria, San Jerónimo, Punta del Hidalgo, Finca España, El Cardonal, or Las Chumberas, among others.
One of the most striking elements of the project is the physical passport given to participants, a symbolic document that is stamped with each activity and allows them to access raffles and prizes as they complete stages of this «journey» through the Lagunero summer.
The event also featured the participation of the Director General of Youth of the Government of the Canary Islands, Daniel Morales, and the insular councilor for Youth, Serafín Mesa, who emphasized the value of these decentralized, integrative initiatives with real impact on youth.
The Director General of Youth of the Government of the Canary Islands, Daniel Morales, explained that «La Laguna, as a university city and youth reference in the Canary Islands, will host an ambitious program designed from and for the youth this summer. From the Government of the Canary Islands, we wanted to join this initiative that promotes healthy and participative leisure, with the final touch being the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Premios Joven Canarias gala, which will take place on September 19 in La Laguna. This program stems from the participation of youth collectives, ensuring that it truly responds to their interests and needs.»
The Youth Councilor, Serafín Mesa, noted that «we are very pleased to collaborate with the City Council of La Laguna on a program that places youth at the center of institutional action. This municipality will likely be the first in the Canary Islands to have a specific and continuous program for young people throughout the summer, surrounding International Youth Day. From the Cabildo, we wanted to support this initiative through a previously unseen grant line, open to all municipalities on the island.»
The inaugural day brought together hundreds of young people and marked the beginning of a program that will fill squares, neighborhoods, citizen centers, and promenades with diverse, free, and open proposals for all citizens until September 19.
