La Laguna celebra el Día de las Familias con más de 40 actividades

The city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna will dress up this coming Saturday, May 17th, to host a new edition of Family Day, a leisure and entertainment day where the City Council wants to celebrate the great diversity of society in the municipality. The scheduled agenda will include more than 40 activities designed for all audiences.

This Wednesday, the official presentation of this event took place, where the Mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez; the Councilor for Social Welfare and Quality of Life, María Cruz; and the representative of La Laguna Commercial Area, Iván Pérez, spoke. Also present were council members Badel Albelo (Sports and Citizen Security), Sergio Eiroa (Youth and Education), and Estefanía Díaz (Commerce and Tourism).

Luis Yeray Gutiérrez emphasized that «this is one of the popular events that has grown the most in recent years in our municipality, demonstrating that La Laguna is a lively city, with a wide range of culture and leisure for all sectors of our population.»

«We have a wide variety of proposals and, it is important to underline, these are activities that are adapted, inclusive, and accessible, through the resources of the Orange Point for support and accompaniment for people with disabilities,» added the highest representative of the City Council, who recalled that «this is an irrevocable goal of this Government Group, a municipality for all people, for which the city has been internationally recognized.»

The scheduled hours for this family day will be from 10:30 am to 9:00 pm, «to be respectful of the rest of the people living in the historic center,» emphasized the mayor.

On her part, the Councilor for Social Welfare and Quality of Life, María Cruz, explained that the scheduled agenda will be divided into seven well-differentiated spaces, «to facilitate the transit and enjoyment of the citizens.» These reference points will be the streets San Agustín and Heraclio, the school La Aneja, and the squares of Junta Suprema, Adelantado, El Cristo, and La Catedral.

Once again, inclusion will be highlighted with specific workshops for physical and sensory disabilities, barrier-free spaces, support services, sensory backpacks, and sign language interpreters, so that no one is left without enjoying this entertainment event. Two Violet Points will also be set up, with information and advice for women who are experiencing harassment or gender-based violence.

Among the novelties of this edition is the gastronomic area in Plaza del Adelantado, where you can taste products from different food stalls, as well as the new rest and breastfeeding areas that will be distributed throughout the city. Additionally, an official event passport will be distributed, to reward with a gift those who visit at least four of the seven planned locations.

Finally, the Councilor of Social Welfare in La Laguna expressed her gratitude for the involvement and work of the technical and political staff of the areas participating in the celebration of this Family Day in La Laguna 2025.

All the programming and details of schedules and locations will be provided through the social media profiles of the City Council of La Laguna and the Council of Social Welfare and Quality of Life.
