La joyería de autor canaria brilla en Madrid Fashion Week con El Jardín del Atlántico

The exhibition of designer jewelry titled El Jardín del Atlántico dazzled the audience in the Spanish capital last night as part of a new edition of Madrid es Moda, the event that kicks off Madrid Fashion Week, organized by the Association of Fashion Creators of Spain (ACME) with the support of the City Council of Madrid through its Madrid Capital de Moda program. This initiative highlights the creativity and talent of Canary Islands jewelry designers and creators, promoted by the quality assurance label Isla Bonita Moda, which fosters the development of the creative and textile sector from the Insular Council of La Palma through Sodepal, and has been a member of ACME as a collaborating institution since 2024.

El Jardín del Atlántico brought together nine Canarian creators who showcased their exclusive pieces in an exhibition that embodied the essence of their Atlantic identity. The exhibition, held at Hotel 7 Islas in the heart of Madrid, was curated by the renowned jewelry designer of Canarian origin, Helena Rohner. A staunch advocate of craftsmanship and sustainability, Helena is considered one of the most prominent figures in jewelry design in Spain, and her contribution to designer jewelry has been essential in positioning Spanish creations on the international stage.

The event gathered artists from different islands of the archipelago, six of whom are associated with the Isla Bonita Moda collective (Atelier El Tesoro, Lepa Punca, Mararte, Pedro Ferreiro, Sara Luis Joyas, and Silvia Baly), in addition to three representatives from the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida (Carmen y Mario Joyeros Artesanos), Tenerife Moda (Nerea Murillo Jewellery), and Lanzarote Moda (Nanni Jewelry) collectives.

As part of the Canarias Islas de Moda initiative, this action has been supported by Proexca, which, from the Government of the Canary Islands, aims to promote and position Canarian fashion and design in international markets. Through this exhibition, designers were able to showcase their art in the Spanish capital, an ideal platform to bring the cultural richness of the Canary Islands to a diverse and specialized audience.

Among the pieces presented, innovative designs that blend craftsmanship and traditional techniques with the most avant-garde ones could be admired, reflecting the identity of each island and the deep connection with the nature and history of the Canary Islands. Pieces brimming with passion for the land and rich symbolism turned into jewelry captivated professionals in the industry, media outlets, and design enthusiasts, who also had the opportunity to enjoy a tasting cocktail with Canary Islands gastronomic products in the heart of Madrid.

El Jardín del Atlántico reaffirms the importance of the Canary Islands as a benchmark in the world of fashion and design, with a unique stamp that combines tradition and modernity projected from the Atlantic with a global vision.

In the words of Miriam Perestelo, Councilor for Economic Promotion of the Insular Council of La Palma, «the presence of La Palma’s designer jewelry firms associated with the Isla Bonita Moda collective and that of our guests, colleagues associated with the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida, Lanzarote Moda, and Tenerife Moda collectives at an event of the magnitude of Madrid es Moda represents a significant milestone for the sector. These initiatives not only allow our designers and creators to showcase themselves in one of the most demanding markets in our country but also consolidate the unique identity of Canarian fashion and design internationally. Being in Madrid, one of the global capitals of fashion, not only opens up new opportunities for collaborations and expanding their presence in the market but also has a direct impact on the local economy, employment, and investment in the creative sector of the islands. Additionally, we have the support of the Government of the Canary Islands through Proexca as part of our internationalization strategy under the Canarias Islas de Moda brand, which aims to place the Canary Islands on the map not only as an attractive destination but also as a creative and quality reference in designer jewelry.»
