Jornada formativa sobre subvenciones de fondos Next Generation

The Ministry organizes a training day at the headquarters of the Canary Islands Business Confederation, in order to provide advice on the open call for grants totaling 30 million, funded by Next Generation funds to promote shared self-consumption, the development of energy communities, and the decarbonization of the industrial sector.

Mariano H. Zapata: «From the Ministry of Transition, we are committed to facilitating access to all necessary resources for the business sector in the archipelago to advance in sustainable energy transition and transform our production system, so these training sessions are very useful in providing technical support and advice.»

The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands, led by Mariano H. Zapata, held an informative session today to provide guidance to the business sector on the recently published open call for grants totaling 30 million euros funded by Next Generation funds. The purpose of this budget is to promote shared self-consumption, the development of energy communities, and the decarbonization of the industrial sector.

The session took place at the headquarters of the Canary Islands Business Confederation in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and was attended by Minister Zapata, accompanied by the Director General of Energy, Alberto Hernández Suárez, the President of the Confederation, Pedro Ortega, and its Executive Vice President, José Cristóbal García. Additionally, the Director of the Energy Transition Projects Unit of the Ministry, Raquel Moreno, addressed the technical aspects of the training.

Mariano H. Zapata emphasized that «from the Ministry of Transition, we are firmly committed to providing the business sector with access to the necessary resources to advance in sustainable energy transition.» Therefore, he stated, «this informative session aims to clearly and directly provide details of a key call, endowed with 30 million euros, which will promote shared self-consumption, boost energy communities, and decarbonize the industrial sector in the islands.»

«Our goal,» he concluded, «is for no company to be left behind. That is why we provide guidance, technical support, and closeness to those who wish to embrace a cleaner, more efficient, and fairer energy model. This call is part of our Sustainable Energy Strategy, with Next Generation Funds, essential tools to transform our production system and move towards a more sustainable future for the Canary Islands.» Zapata added, «this complements the emergency plan we have implemented from the Ministry, which is already yielding results, as we have definitively granted over 235 million euros linked to energy grants.»

On his part, the President of the Canary Islands Business Confederation, Pedro Ortega, thanked «the information provided by the Ministry on these aids that will promote self-consumption and enable companies to fulfill their commitments to decarbonization,» while also expressing entrepreneurs’ concern about «the need to definitively address the energy emergency situation still present in our region, and urged the competent authorities to make a greater effort to reduce the administrative deadlines required to complete the processing of projects of this nature.»

The session was attended by the Board of Directors of the Canary Islands Business Confederation. During the meeting, the Ministry’s technical team explained the details of these aids, totaling 30 million euros, aimed at promoting the integration of renewable energies, both for collective self-consumption and for industrial building facilities, improving the energy efficiency of Canary Islands industries and favoring the reduction of their dependence on fossil fuels, as well as energy storage.

It is worth noting that the grant call, published on April 10, 2025, in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC), establishes a deadline for applications that started the day after its official publication and will end on July 11, 2025. Likewise, the completion date of the actions must be before March 15, 2026. The grant guidelines can be consulted through this link.
