La formación política Iustitia Europa defends that the vote of a Canary Islander is worth «the same» as that of a Catalan or Basque to choose the president of Spain

The political party Iustitia Europa has presented itself on Friday afternoon in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where it held an event with more than 150 people at the AC Iberia Hotel in Las Palmas, where it has stated that Spain «does not need more patches,» while proposing measures against corruption.

The lawyer and president of Iustitia Europa, Luis María Pardo, wanted to convey a «clear and forceful» message from the political party, such as the need to «reform the regime of ’78 –the Constitution– from its foundations» and «put an end» to the political corruption that «has plagued Spain for decades to the point of becoming institutionalized.»

Iustitia Europa arises from civil society and with the «endorsement of its role» as a public prosecution in corruption cases such as «Koldo, Ábalos, Santos Cerdán, Begoña Gómez, the scandal of hydrocarbon contracts, the espionage of the Pegasus case, and the alleged network of favors surrounding David Sánchez,» brother of the Prime Minister, as reported by the party in a press release.

In this way, Iustitia Europa has presented what it calls its «Contract with Citizenship» through a public commitment with 15 points urging the depoliticization of the State and its institutions, as they believe they are «hijacked by the leadership of political parties.»

It also advocates for protecting independent judicial action, combating illegal immigration through comprehensive reform of the Foreigners Law, «strict control» of borders, «immediate expulsion» of repeat or criminal illegal immigrants, «elimination of subsidies to NGOs that promote» illegal immigration, as well as the creation of a specific judicial and police order against illegal immigration and the mafias trafficking in people.

They also propose to eliminate public funding for political parties, as well as subsidies to unions and other organizations for a drastic reduction in political spending; while they believe it is necessary to promote, among their measures, the separation of real powers with the direct election of the Prime Minister by Spaniards and a new legislative power with deputies by constituency.

Pardo emphasized, in this regard, that «a vote from a Canary Islander must be worth the same as that of a Catalan or Basque to choose the president of all Spaniards.»

He added that they also advocate for the transformation of the Legislative Parliamentary Initiative so that citizens can convene «binding and even abrogative» referendums for the repeal of laws and legal norms, as is the case in countries like Switzerland or Italy, as they believe that Spain «does not need more patches, but a reform of the ’78 regime and the Constitution that returns the State to the citizens.»

Finally, Pardo pointed out that the ’78 Regime «has expired and has led Spain to a constitutional dictatorship,» considering it necessary for civil society to build «a real alternative» since «the parties of the regime are incapable of reforming themselves» and «only organized society can lead the change needed» in the country, where citizens have a «historic opportunity» to change the rules of the game.

Iustitia Europa will also be in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where it will be presented this Saturday, July 12, at an event to be held at the Silken Atlántida Hotel starting at 7:30 p.m., with free access until full capacity is reached.
