Isla Bonita Moda fortalece la formación en moda baño en La Palma

The Gran Canarian designer Nuria González provided a specific training in swimwear pattern making last weekend within the framework of the recently signed collaboration agreement between the fashion program of the La Palma Island Council, through the Promotion and Socioeconomic Development Society of La Palma Island (SODEPAL), and the Manolo Blahnik School of Art. This exclusive workshop, aimed at the firms associated with the collective itself, as well as future designers and professionals in the sector, took place at the school’s facilities with the goal of delving into advanced design and pattern making techniques applied to swimwear.

The initiative is part of an effort to strengthen specialized training in La Palma, highlighting the commitment of the Isla Bonita Moda program to promote local creativity and talent. The collaboration with the Manolo Blahnik School of Art, an educational reference in the region, reinforces the desire to provide our professionals and future designers with the necessary tools and knowledge to stand out in the fashion industry, especially in a sector like swimwear full of opportunities both within and beyond our borders.

During the training, Nuria González – whose eponymous brand belongs to the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida collective – shared her extensive experience and knowledge of swimwear design and pattern creation with the participants. Attendees had the opportunity to learn from one of the most renowned designers in the archipelago, who conveyed her approach and personal technique for creating unique swimwear pieces.

The agreement signed between Isla Bonita Moda and the Manolo Blahnik School of Art represents an important step in promoting fashion as a key creative sector on the island. This collaboration will enable the development of more high-level training programs, fostering the training of professionals with a global vision of the sector and its evolution, demonstrating the commitment of the La Palma Island Council to creativity, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in local fashion, and facilitating the export of Canarian talent nationally and internationally.

In the words of Miriam Perestelo, Councilor for Economic Promotion of the La Palma Island Council and CEO of Sodepal: «We firmly believe that training and empowering our local talents are fundamental to strengthen a field in constant growth that offers enormous opportunities for our designers and creatives. These initiatives, organized in collaboration between Isla Bonita Moda and the Manolo Blahnik School of Art, not only provide specialized technical knowledge but also create spaces for exchange and learning that enhance talent and innovation on the island. We will continue committed to promoting creativity, entrepreneurship, and specialized training, with the goal of positioning La Palma as a benchmark in designer fashion and providing our young professionals with the necessary tools to stand out both regionally and internationally.»
