La Palma will host the III Slow Taste Enogastronomic Destinations Conference, an event that will take place on September 25 and 26 and will position the island as a gastronomic destination through this event that seeks to advocate for gastronomic tourism as a transformative and conscious experience. The event is organized by Saborea España and the State Secretariat for Tourism with Next Generation funds and has the collaboration of the Cabildo de La Palma and the public company Sodepal.

The Minister of Economic Promotion and Trade and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, and the Minister of Tourism, Raquel Rebollo, participated in the presentation of these conferences at the Casa de Canarias in Madrid. Also present at the event were the president of Saborea España, Susi Díaz; the president of the Gastronomic Destinations Association, Blanca Jiménez; the general secretary of Hospitality Spain, Emilio Gallego; and the director general of Tourism Policies of the State Secretariat for Tourism, Ana Muñoz Llabrés.

Miriam Perestelo emphasized the current government’s commitment to promoting the Saborea La Palma brand to showcase the quality and excellence of La Palma’s products, as well as the talent of its professionals, highlighting the importance of gastronomy, particularly enhanced in recent years, within the tourist experience offered by the island.

The Minister of Tourism, Raquel Rebollo, highlighted the gastronomic, cultural, and natural richness of La Palma as key attractions of the destination that offer visitors an exclusive experience linked to the landscape, local products, and authenticity, emphasizing the coordinated work among the departments of the Cabildo to promote the wide range of offerings provided by the island with a prominent focus on gastronomy.

In this sense, the ministers emphasized the essential role played by the island’s primary sector in this area, as the work and commitment of its professionals result in top-quality products.

It is an important opportunity, furthermore, to position the island as a gastronomic destination at the national and international levels and to continue the work carried out by the public company Sodepal, through Saborea La Palma, and by the Tourism Department to promote the island through the quality of its products, the talent of its professionals, and the excellence of its preparations.

An opportunity to diversify the gastronomic tourism offer

The III Slow Taste Enogastronomic Destinations Conference will allow for the diversification of the gastronomic tourism offer and attract new profiles of national and international visitors interested, in the most respectful way with local communities, in our gastronomy, culture, and landscape.

This event is poised to establish itself as a forum for dialogue, learning, and connection among destinations, companies, and institutions. Under the umbrella of the National Gastronomic Tourism Plan, these conferences seek to multiply the positive impact of enogastronomy on local development, employment, and the identity of territories.
