El festival Be Free Fuerteventura celebra el Orgullo con actividades del 22 al 29 de junio
Concerts, theatrical performances, and a diversity march, among other cultural activities, will be held.
The Be Free Fuerteventura festival returns with a comprehensive program of activities from June 22 to 29, as part of the celebration of Pride Fuerteventura 2025. It returns as a symbol of diversity, culture, and the LGTBIQ+ community on the island, driven by ALTIHAY Fuerteventura, the Cabildo de Fuerteventura through the Department of Culture, as well as the City Council of Puerto del Rosario and Clapso Producciones.
Culture Minister Rayco León explained that «this year, Be Free Fuerteventura changes its date to June, making a fundamental statement of our society that is still valid.» «We propose a comprehensive program of activities, in coordination with numerous institutions and the ALTIHAY collective.» León added that «this event goes beyond the festive aspect, but has an important cultural component with cinema, poetry, theater, and other artistic disciplines.»
Tourism Councilor Marlene Figueroa expressed the support of the Tourism Board for the Be Free Fuerteventura festival, «of which we are proud because it shows that the society of Fuerteventura is free and respectful.» Figueroa announced that in 2026, the Be Free festival will be promoted in the United Kingdom with the tour operator Jet2 as one of the international Pride events that this tour operator promotes throughout the UK.
Equality Councilor Tacoremi Gutiérrez highlighted the support of the City Council of Puerto del Rosario from the areas of Equality, Tourism, and Culture. «Celebrating in the summer will help to achieve greater relevance, with the work of all the people who make it possible.»
ALTIHAY Fuerteventura President Carla Soto expressed «the pride of presenting this fourth edition of Be Free Fuerteventura, around the dates of June 28.» She thanked the administrations that have provided their support, «in a year that is important for the community, as it marks twenty years of equal marriage in Spain. In addition, it advocates pride beyond the major cities, with events that promote culture, inclusion, and diversity.»
Israel Reyes, from Clapso Producciones, emphasized «the importance and difficulty of carrying out a project like this.» «We have turned it around, with a change of date that helps reach the population of Fuerteventura to continue transmitting values and recovering some emblematic events.»
The Be Free Fuerteventura 2025 program will kick off with the LGTBIQ+ Poetry Contest at the Palacio de Formación y Congresos. On June 23, the LGTBIQ+ Film Showcase of Fuerteventura will begin at the Insular Auditorium.
On June 26, a drag workshop with Grimassira Maeva will be held at the Insular Youth Center. That same day, at 8:30 p.m., the moat of the Palacio de Formación y Congresos will host the Pride-Be Free concert with artists Sofía Coll, Jorge González, Kuve, Gara Alemán, and Marta Umpiérrez.
Additionally, on Friday, June 27, the Palacio de Formación y Congresos will host an institutional event for Pride 2025 at 12:00 p.m., a book presentation by Miquel Fernández at 7:00 p.m., and starting at 9:00 p.m., the ALTIHAY 2025 Awards will be presented, and the Fuerte Petarda-Divas In Drags Party will take place. This last event with the support of the Government of the Canary Islands.
On Saturday, June 28, it’s time for the musical ‘Los Tacones de Papá’ and starting at 10:00 p.m., ‘Pride Night’ with DJs and performances.
On Sunday, June 29, the activities will be held at Playa de los Pozos in Puerto del Rosario, with a March for Diversity and Memory, the ‘Aqua Drag’ show, and a DJ session.
