El Cabildo promueve la tecnificación deportiva en carreras de montaña

Several professionals from different fields will gather at a conference that will take place next Saturday, June 21, and will be open to the public.

The Cabildo de La Palma, through its Sports department led by Yurguen Hernández, in collaboration with the City Council of Villa de Mazo, is hosting the first mountain running and hiking technical training conference in La Palma. This initiative will take place next Saturday, June 21.

Yurguen Hernández values this activity, which will be held at the plenary hall of the City Council of Villa de Mazo starting at 6:00 PM, as «an action to support sports in La Palma, especially the trail running discipline.»

In this sense, Hernández points out that «the diversity of speakers will make these conferences fruitful for various sectors that complement the practice of this sport, as well as guide clubs and athletes.»

The conferences have been promoted from the outset by councilor Yurguen Hernández and the mayor of Villa de Mazo, Idafe Hernández. At this meeting, several professionals in the fields of nutrition, physical preparation, physiotherapy, and podiatry will share their experiences and provide training to the attending public in these areas.

In the field of physiotherapy, the professional from Madrid, Pablo Arandilla, who specializes in competition readaptation studies, will participate. Regarding nutrition, the speaker Sergio Martín, recognized for his research on nutrition before, during, and after races, will attend.

Additionally, the clinical director of Podoactiva La Palma, Pablo Acosta, will provide his perspective on sports podiatry in all its aspects. Finally, professional runner from Valencia, Ricardo Cherta, will share his experiences in this discipline and how he managed to balance his life as a professional athlete and studies, including several master’s degrees in sports performance.
