ARRECIFE (LANZAROTE), 14 (EUROPA PRESS)
The National Police have arrested a 57-year-old man in Arrecife (Lanzarote) with multiple previous convictions as the perpetrator of an attempted homicide and domestic violence crime for trying to kill his partner on the 7th of March with a knife when they were both at the victim’s home.
According to the Superior Police Headquarters of the Canary Islands, the operation began after the woman called 112 stating that she had been attacked with a knife, with the most serious wound being to her neck, and that she had taken refuge in a room inside her home, where she was calling for help.
At that moment, the National Police and several ambulances from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) were activated and dispatched to the location.
Additionally, while the resources were on their way, a doctor from 112 Canarias provided medical assistance over the phone to the woman, giving her the necessary medical instructions.
Once at the home, the police managed to enter the property, where they located and subdued the aggressor, securing the area for the arrival of the medical services.
In this way, medical services assisted the woman and transferred her to the José Molina Orosa Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery and is currently recovering from her injuries.
The investigation was carried out by agents belonging to the Family and Women’s Care Unit (UFAM), who managed to locate the knife used in the attack inside the residence.
After completing the police procedures, the suspect was handed over to the competent Judicial Authority, who ordered his immediate imprisonment.
