Cabildo de Lanzarote destina 1.000.000 euros a becas y ayudas para estudiantes

The Cabildo de Lanzarote, through the Education Department led by councilor Ascensión Toledo, has published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas two strategic aid lines aimed at students from Lanzarote and La Graciosa for the 2024/2025 academic year. The insular institution, presided over by Oswaldo Betancort, allocates a total of 1,000,000 euros to these scholarships and travel aids, increasing the individual amounts for some of the modalities.

According to Education Councilor Ascensión Toledo, the Cabildo’s goal is to «strengthen its commitment to families and ensure that no student from Lanzarote and La Graciosa is limited in accessing higher education due to economic or geographical reasons.»
The Scholarships for Official Studies by the Cabildo de Lanzarote will have a budget of 700,000 euros to support students based on their socioeconomic circumstances and academic performance. This call includes various modalities: 151 scholarships for University Degrees and Higher Artistic Studies (2,200 euros each, totaling 332,000 euros); 15 scholarships for Official Master’s Studies (1,150 euros each, totaling 17,250 euros); 25 scholarships for Higher Vocational Training Studies (1,150 euros each, totaling 28,750 euros); 20 complementary scholarships for student mobility programs (700 euros each, totaling 14,000 euros); and 281 complementary scholarships for accommodation (1,000 euros each, totaling 281,000 euros).
Additionally, scholarships are also called for non-face-to-face and face-to-face official studies on the island: 15 scholarships for University Degrees (720 euros each, totaling 10,800 euros); 10 scholarships for Official Master’s Studies (900 euros each, totaling 9,000 euros); 10 complementary scholarships for mobility programs (700 euros each, totaling 7,000 euros).
Travel aids
The second line of aid, endowed with 300,000 euros, is intended to cover travel expenses for students studying Higher Vocational Training, University Degrees, and Master’s outside of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
The deadline for submitting applications will be 15 business days from the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of Las Palmas. The process will be carried out exclusively online through the official website.
To be eligible for these aids, applicants must meet requirements such as residing in Lanzarote or La Graciosa for at least one year and being enrolled in official studies for the 2024/2025 academic year.
