Aprobado proyecto de mejora en red de distribución de agua en Lanzarote

Oswaldo Betancort: «This pipeline will provide Lanzarote with a new and modern water distribution network, and will ensure, after the completion of the works on the North Line, that the island is able to receive higher quality drinking water in each and every one of its towns.»
The improvement of the water distribution network of the Central Line will extend from Montaña Mina to Mozaga.
The Government Council of the Cabildo de Lanzarote approves on Wednesday, May 14, the project, the tender document, and the expenditure for the execution of the works of the Central Line of drinking water distribution in Lanzarote, with a budget of 6,251,330.23 euros.
The municipality of Tinajo and the western area of Teguise are connected to the island’s drinking water transport network through a branch that starts from Montaña Mina (San Bartolomé) and connects with the transport network near the population center of Mozaga (Tinajo).
The current network is insufficient to meet the demand. To address this issue, the solution outlined in the project «Improvement of the Drinking Water Distribution Network Montaña Mina-Mozaga» has been articulated, consisting of the construction of a new branch in the transport network. This complete branch will start from the Montaña Mina reservoir and end at the junction point of the Tinajo-Tao-Famara branches, being executed in different phases through the municipal areas of Teguise and San Bartolomé.
This is a project financed 80 percent by the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN) and 20 percent by the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
President Oswaldo Betancort has emphasized the importance of this pipeline, stating that «it will provide Lanzarote with a new and modern water distribution network, and will ensure, after the completion of the works on the North Line, that the island is able to receive higher quality drinking water in each and every one of its towns.»
Oswaldo Betancort points out that «the increase in demand, not only due to population growth but also to the rise in agricultural activity, must be met by increasing and improving our transport and distribution network to adapt it to current and future needs.»
The Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Project Contracting, led by María Jesús Tovar, is responsible for contracting the works. Tovar has highlighted «the great work that has been done from the various areas of the Cabildo to be able to allocate the FDCAN funds, in a project of enormous magnitude that puts Lanzarote on the path to solving the major challenges we face in terms of water supply.»
The Minister of Finance has detailed that the project «will be tendered in two lots; the first in the section affecting the municipality of Teguise, with a budget of 1,584,811.89 euros, and the second in the municipality of San Bartolomé with an allocation of 4,666,516.34 euros. The Teguise section has a 9-month execution period, while the San Bartolomé section has 18 months.»
At this point, the President of the Cabildo has wanted to highlight that «actions in hydraulic investments are being carried out throughout the entire integral cycle, from improving production, water transport, purification, sanitation, and irrigation networks.»
