Apertura del Área de Acampada de Papagayo en Lanzarote

The Cabildo de Lanzarote has opened the Papagayo Camping Area on Friday, in the Los Ajaches Natural Park, one of the most emblematic natural spaces on the island. The summer campaign begins optimistically, thanks to the excellent occupancy forecasts and the new features implemented in recent weeks, which establish this site as a reference for inland tourism in the Canary Islands.

The management of the Area, led by councilor Samuel Martín, has facilitated the incorporation of significant infrastructure improvements during this period. Among them, the actions on energy supply, optimization of supplies and access, as well as the modernization of common areas stand out, thus raising the quality of service offered to residents and visitors.

The only regulated camping area in Lanzarote opens this season with an expanded capacity: eight new spaces for motorhomes are added to the usual offer, reaching a total of 266 available pitches.

The area will remain open until September 30, and there has already been a high demand as some days have reservations that are around 50% occupancy.

Holidays and Nature

"We start a new season with great enthusiasm, with tangible improvements and a great reception from the public, which reaffirms the importance of maintaining these spaces. Camping in Papagayo is a unique experience in a privileged natural environment, and we work every year to keep it that way," highlighted Samuel Martín, who visited the area this morning to supervise the start of the summer campaign.

For his part, the President of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has valued the reopening as "a strong commitment to sustainable enjoyment of the natural environment and the diversification of the island’s tourist offer. The Camping Area is a model of coexistence with the environment, responsible use, and family enjoyment," Betancort affirmed.

The reservation rates remain unchanged since the original opening of the space in the late 90s, making this service one of the most accessible natural leisure options on the island.

The island corporation reminds that it is mandatory to register all guests in advance, through a prior check-in that can be done through the platform.

Likewise, the formalization of the reservation implies the acceptance of the coexistence rules, which must be followed to preserve harmony among campers and ensure the protection of the natural environment.
