
Public company becomes a driver of social and economic transformation on the Island
The Sociedad de Promoción y Desarrollo Económico y Social de la Isla de La Palma, S.A.U. (Sodepal) has closed the 2024 fiscal year with historic results that solidify its role as a key driver of economic revitalization on the Island. The public entity has achieved record numbers in investment, job creation, and collaboration with the local business network.
By the end of the year, Sodepal had a team of 88 individuals, representing a 29.4% increase from 2023. Additionally, it has executed a total budget of 11.7 million euros, an 82.8% increase from the previous year, resulting in a positive outcome of 83,444.71 euros.
The public company presents clean, solid, and balanced annual accounts, ensuring smooth operation and reaffirming its ability to continue growing responsibly, efficiently, and with a vision for the future.
The President of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, emphasizes that «these figures reflect the collective effort we are making to effectively address the social and economic challenges facing La Palma.» To achieve this, the President points out, «we have expanded resources, strengthened the workforce, and woven a strong network of collaboration with the local private sector, involving over 400 companies, SMEs, and self-employed individuals in the projects developed by the public company.»
On her part, the Councilor for Economic Promotion of the Cabildo de La Palma and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, highlights the involvement of the company’s personnel, «whose commitment, knowledge, and management skills have been crucial in achieving the set goals.»
This work carried out by the technical team has been essential in turning ideas into tangible results, ensuring the efficiency of public resources and maximizing their impact on the Island. Additionally, the Councilor informs that they have also «focused on bringing in interns, providing new opportunities for professional development to the young talent of the Island.»
